2024 Toyota Tacoma will be revealed this week (with many surprises).
Are you ready, Tacoma fans? This is the week we have all been waiting for. The official reveal date is set for this Friday, May 19th.
It is time for 2024 Tacoma.
Although Toyota Tacoma is already the best-selling midsize truck in the country for the last “nearly two decades”, many would agree it has been time for the next generation to show its shiny new face. And for quite some time.
Since this is such an iconic and important model in the Toyota lineup, I feel Toyota took its time to get things just right.
I also think we are about to be handed many next-gen Tacoma surprises – and some that will completely shock us.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Power
Just like its Tundra and Sequoia predecessors, Toyota Tacoma 2024 will feature the new and all-powerful i-FORCE MAX hybrid. This was exposed in one of numerous teasers leading up to the big unveiling.
Of course, Tacoma will not have quite the power of Tundra and Sequoia (437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. torque), but I expect it to rocket well beyond its current 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. torque (from the outgoing 3.5 V6).
The question, too, is just how many engine and powertrain combinations (maybe two, perhaps three, could be more) are there? A 6-speed manual transmission was also teased. And what trim levels will it be offered on?
2024 Tacoma Trim Levels
The current 2023 Tacoma features SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Trail Special Edition, Limited, and TRD Pro. Which ones will carry over and which ones will be phased out and replaced?
Toyota has already shown us mysterious bits of 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and the new overlanding capable Trailhunter grades, but little is known from there. Remember, with Trailhunter, this one can come right from the factory complete with a whole host of options and accessories made unique and ready to go to fit your needs.
A recent silhouette-inspired teaser showed off four pictures (we were left guessing on this one): what I think is TRD Pro, the Trailhunter, perhaps the TRD Sport or SR5 (hard to tell from the silhouette), and an Access Cab of some sort.
Since Toyota chose to highlight multiple cab configurations in this manner, I feel it is highly possible we will get a jam-packed trim level lineup for our favorite midsize truck.
A New 2024 Tacoma Interior
If it weren’t for the outdated current Tacoma interior cabin, I think the third generation could have realistically carried on for a few more years. Tacoma is just that good. When you are the most durable, dependable, and reliable truck in your class you can do things like that.
But this is the one area that Toyota needs to get right. The inside.
Other trucks in the segment have bigger multimedia screens, more technology and gadgets, and frankly just plain look better with their interiors.
I anticipate we will see the new Toyota Audio Multimedia system, better and sharper graphics, hopefully crisper and more capable cameras and camera views, and more capabilities to take advantage of.
And maybe even more bells and even cooler whistles. This one has me intrigued.

Sure hope Toyota gets the interior seating configuration right for drives above 6 ft tall. I love this current design, but it was a no go as I thought it was one of the most uncomfortable vehicles I have tried to sit on. Felt like I was sitting on the floor with my legs and arms stretched out. Couldn't stand sitting in it on the dealer lot much less spend any extended time in it. Crossing my fingers but I can't wait until the 19th!
This is ridiculous. This man
This is ridiculous. This man claims to have 20 years in the auto industry, but the truth is he's a former Atlanta Hawks PG. You can't escape Jeff.
