Learn about the ominous option package for 2021 Tacoma that is darkening its future – dramatically.
The 2021 Toyota Tacoma has arrived at dealerships this month with a few new toys in store for the buying public.
Among the changes coming for 2021 are a Lunar Rock Tacoma TRD Pro, Army Green color availability across the lineup and a new Trail Edition.
Plus, a new 2021 Tacoma Nightshade Edition is here too.
A few popular Toyota truck and SUV models are joining the Nightshade fleet for 2021. Look for Tacoma Nightshade, Tundra Nightshade and Sequoia Nightshade while walking your local dealer lots this fall and winter.
This brings the Toyota Nightshade club to 10 models. Toyota 4Runner, Avalon, C-HR, Camry, Corolla, Sienna and Corolla Hatchback are also part of the Nightshade Toyota team.

2021 Toyota Tacoma Nightshade Edition
When researching Tacoma trucks, it is important to know that Nightshade Edition does not have its own specific grade, or trim level.
It is based on and built up from the luxury-themed Limited trims. Nightshade Tacoma is available in both 2WD and 4WD.
Standard (and only) configuration for Nightshade is double cab with 6-speed automatic transmission and a 5-foot bed. It is not sold as a manual or with a 6-foot long bed.
2021 Tacoma Nightshade is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. torque.
2021 Tacoma Nightshade price
Factory MSRP (not including shipping to dealerships) for Limited 2WD is $38,905. 4WD starts at $41,980.
Nightshade Edition upgrade is $1000 additional cost.
2021 Toyota Tacoma Nightshade features
What exactly makes a 2021 Tacoma a Nightshade Tacoma anyway? Darkened features and accents are the themes here.
Exterior highlights include 18-inch dark smoke colored wheels, black wheel locks and lug nuts, black exhaust tip, black mirror caps, black fog light bezels, black badging, black door handles, and a carbon styled black front grille.
I just wanted to see how many times I could write the word “black” in that last paragraph. I got seven in. Not bad. Never done that before.
2021 Tacoma Nightshade interior features a cabin highlighted by darkened, sporty and sinister seating. Black leather seats will greet drivers and passengers alike. And they are quite comfortable as well.
Panoramic View Monitor is standard, and it allows drivers to see in front of, along the sides of, and behind the truck. This will help when looking out for hazardous brush, sticks, stumps and rocks while driving.
Other highlights include smart key push button start, Premium Audio with JBL sound system, 8-inch multimedia touch screen, dynamic navigation and Qi smartphone charging.
Tacoma Nightshade colors
Wind Chill Pearl has been added to the color palette lineup for 2021 Tacoma trucks. It can be found on Tacoma Nightshade, along with Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic.
Wind Chill Pearl comes with a $425 premium paint charge. This is a similar cost that you will see when picking Blizzard Pearl and Ruby Flare Pearl paint colors on other popular Toyota models.
Time for your thoughts on 2021 Toyota Tacoma
Expect a somewhat challenging process in finding one of these darkened beauties, though. Toyota plans on manufacturing just 5,000 Tacoma Nightshade trucks this year.
Will you be in the market for a new truck soon? If so, will it be a Tacoma and could it possibly be the Nightshade Edition you have your eye on?
