See what a 2020 Highlander looks like at night - inside and out. You just may be impressed.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander begins its first full month of retail sales all over the country. Feedback is coming in fast and furious from fans eager to get their first looks at this newest fourth generation. Most people, however, have mainly been able to see Highlander during the daytime.

I thought it would be helpful to show everyone a first look at this new model at night. After all, we do need to see buttons and controls lit up, right?

Exterior highlights of 2020 Highlander

A large majority of the feedback I have gotten from my Toyotajeff YouTube channel viewers and Torque News readers has been favorable toward 2020 Highlander.

Iris had this to say. “I love the new Highlander! This is the vehicle I want. Toyota has some of the most reliable vehicles.”

Kerri compared 2020 Highlander to the 2019 before making a purchase. “After test driving both the 2019 and the 2020 side by side, I just bought the 2020 Highlander XLE in Ruby Flare Pearl yesterday. It was truly updated with upgraded handling. It really felt like 2 different cars because of the new platform.”

The 2020 Toyota Highlander features across the board LED headlights. Most grades come with LED fog lights as well. Completing the full LED package are LED taillights and stoplights on all Highlanders.

Interior 2020 Highlander features

Potential buyers interested in a 2020 Toyota Highlander can select interior colors from Graphite Gray, Harvest Beige and Black. Platinum trim levels also include Glazed Caramel interior as an option. For my review today I chose a 2020 Highlander XLE in Blueprint with Harvest Beige interior.

I appreciate this year’s beige color entry. I found it to be light and open feeling, without too much of a yellow tint like the previous generation. That felt like the color of straw to me.

Buttons and controls are easy to use and backlit so you can see what you are about to push at night without much hesitation wondering what you might be about to operate. Interior vibe is soft and pleasing, as Toyota makes good use of blue and white lighting throughout the cabin.

An interesting choice was to place digital temperatures on each of the dual controls as opposed to the digital temperature display. All multimedia touch screens are a minimum of 8 inches in size. The other alternative is an oversized 12.3-inch screen that makes quite a statement.

Steering wheel controls are easy to use and should reduce the potential for distractions. The 2020 Highlander has the most common functions and operations like radar cruise control, lane departure alert, voice commands, phone calls, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto here with soft blue lighted buttons.

Multi-information display can be seen in either 4.2-inch or 7-inch screens. This information is shown in full color, with most displays appearing in white.

Those highlanders keep getting smaller and smaller every year, my 2008 is considerably longer.
