There are many reasons to consider a 2020 Highlander LE trim level. Does my Top 3 list match yours?
Toyota made a wise decision by streamlining the grade, or trim levels, for its fourth-generation 2020 Highlander. There are 5 different trims and they are easy to understand and remember, following a similar template as many of other popular Toyota models.
Potential buyers can decide between L, LE, XLE, Limited and Platinum. No more LE Plus from last year, which did unfortunately confuse a good many folks.
I feel one trim levels that will become a top seller is the LE grade.
After studying and reviewing this LE for a few days, many reasons came to mind why people might strongly consider purchasing one. I’ll give you my top 3.
You can find a good value with Highlander LE
It is probably prudent of me to establish a baseline from last year’s 2019 former body style to this current entry. This 2020 Toyota Highlander LE is the virtual trim level equivalent to the 2019 Highlander LE Plus.
With that being said, there was a minimal price increase between years. Front-wheel drive 2019 LE Plus came with a factory MSRP of $36,760, while 2020 LE FWD is $36,800. This is only a $40 price difference between years, in spite of a complete vehicle redesign and much-improved safety, technology and convenience.
In contrast, only $180 separates the all-wheel drive versions between model years. A 2020 Highlander LE AWD has a factory MSRP of $38,400 compared to $38,220 last year.
Again, this is a strong value in the price category.
The 2020 Highlander LE is loaded
Here is the best part. This 2020 Toyota Highlander LE really is loaded. Most Toyota loyalists know the LE trim of many popular models is often considered to be an entry level vehicle. Well, there is an L grade Highlander this year, but you know what I mean.
This LE, however, has all the features most customers would expect at this level, plus many more. Think about how impressive it is, in Toyota standards, that LE comes with standard smart key push button start, blind spot monitor and power back liftgate. Not to mention a full LED package of headlamps, daytime running lights and fog lights.
Let’s keep going here. Standard 8-inch multimedia touch screen, 8-way power driver’s seat, 18-inch alloy wheels and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. Can we also throw in Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM and Amazon Alexa?
Strong value for the money.
You will not find “too many extras” you do not need
The next choice up in trim levels for shoppers would be to move to the XLE. This is an ideal choice for those people who want standard SofTex (synthetic leather) seats, power moonroof, heated front seats and auto dimming rear-view mirror with garage door opener function.
Many people do not want leather seats and are more than happy with fabric. They also hardly ever use a moonroof, if at all. This school of thought says if you do not need those features, then why pay for them?
An XLE costs about $2,800 more versus an LE. Smart business says if you can save the money by not buying options you do not plan on needing or using then go with the 2020 Highlander LE.

I love watching your reviews. You explain the vehicles in details that make it easy to decide on a vehicle. I like the comparison of vehicles because I can see the differences in what I want in my vehicle. The Highlander is my next vehicle.
