Big news as Toyota reveals a new American plant along with a 10-year battery investment.

The automotive industry has been relying more and more on batteries these last few years.
We see it especially with electrified vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and battery electric vehicles.
This week, Toyota announced a monstrous commitment to battery power right here in the United States. A new 10-year, $3.4 billion investment will bring a new American production plant and jobs with it.
Toyota Commitment to Battery Power
A new company will be established, Toyota Motor North America announced, that will build an automotive battery plant in the U.S. Location has not been announced yet.
To me, it is important to note this move will create 1,750 American jobs. Plus, it will localize battery production, which will enhance battery supply and streamline supply chain logistics.
What Kind of Toyota Batteries?
Initially look for strides in Lithium-ion automotive battery production with this new initiative. These are currently used in many popular Toyota hybrid electric vehicles.
Also, battery electric vehicles will play a major role in the Toyota venture.
Toyota has previously announced a plan to launch around 70 Toyota electrified models worldwide by the year 2025. This includes 15 battery electric vehicles, with seven of those being bZ (Beyond Zero) battery electric vehicles.
Expect to learn more about the all-new bZ4X battery electric vehicle SUV in the next couple months.
Toyota Next Steps
Toyota places significance on achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. This aggressive United States battery venture will aid in its goal.
Currently Toyota electrified vehicles account for about 25 percent of all U.S. sales volume, and the plan is for this number to grow to around 70 percent by the year 2030.
I suppose we all need to begin thinking about a world dominated by electrified vehicles – fuel cell, battery electric, hybrids, plug-in electric hybrids.
Fortunately, Toyota has long-established itself as a corporation associated with hybrid excellence. Quality, reliability, long-term dependability.
