Get key specs and facts on 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport. Some may just surprise you.
One of my favorite things about America’s best-selling midsize truck is the variety of trims available for customers. With a 2021 Tacoma there is probably something for everybody.
Especially with the TRD lineup. Customers can choose from Tacoma TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport and TRD Pro.
For this spotlight, let us focus on 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport.
Meet Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport
Tacoma TRD Sport is one of the more popular midsize truck trim levels. Production of TRD Sport varies by region, but it can make up around 20% of total Tacoma sales in some areas.
All TRD Sport Tacoma trucks are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. torque. It can be matched with either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
Buyers can choose from Access Cab configuration with a 6-foot bed or a Double Cab with either 5-foot or 6-foot bed.
From there you can select either rear-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive.
Again, with all the plug-and-play options here, TRD Sport appeals to a wide segment of the truck-buying market.
Towing Capacity for 2021 Tacoma Sport
A 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport may be the ideal vehicle for towing. It comes with a standard tow capacity of 6,400 pounds to 6,800 pounds, depending on configuration specs you pick.
For example, a Double Cab 4WD with 6-speed manual transmission and a 5-foot bed is rated at 6,400 pounds. An Access Cab 2WD with 6-speed automatic transmission and 6-foot bed comes in at 6,800 pounds.
Either way, it is probably safe to get your boats and campers and trailers ready for some weekend fun at the lake or the mountains.
Tacoma Sport-Tuned Suspension
I feel Tacoma TRD Sport is designed more for on-road than off-road, but that certainly does not mean it is not meant for the trails too.
No need to let it sit on the sidelines and miss all the fun.
A 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport features front suspension consisting of sport-tuned independent coil-spring double-wishbone and stabilizer bar.
The rear of Tacoma has sport-tuned leaf spring suspension with staggered outboard-mounted gas shock absorbers and stabilizer bar.

Standard lighting consists of projector-beam headlights with LED daytime running lights and integrated wide-angle fog lights.
But you can upgrade to full LED lighting for all three.
Speaking of upgrades.
2021 Toyota Tacoma packages
To get full LED lighting, upgrade to the package containing LED headlights with DRL and black bezel LED fog lights.
Another big optional upgrade is the TRD Premium Sport Package. This includes leather-trimmed seats with heated front seats, JBL audio with dynamic navigation, remote connected services, auto headlights and power moonroof.
The available Technology Package gives drivers rear parking sonar, blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
An even more comprehensive Advanced Technology Package provides all features from Technology Package in addition to Panoramic View Monitor and turn signal indicators in the side mirrors.
Which one of these upgrade packages appeals to you?

I will say this.... finding a TRD Sport access cab with a manual transmission is the ultimate hunt for a unicorn
The manual access cab was
The manual access cab was available and I grabbed it! Wasn’t looking for it but was one of the few Tacos the dealership had in stock at the time. It’s pretty great!
Jeff, so what exactly does
Jeff, so what exactly does the "trademark" hood scoop add? Is it for looks? Does it add to the performance? I bought a pre-owned 2018 and would have liked to have found a PRO with the nice options but really like mine.
its for looks only. but if u
its for looks only. but if u buy, there are some that customize it and make it working. sad that they wont make a working hood scoop
I own a 2021 Little Guy Mini
I own a 2021 Little Guy Mini Max camper with a dry weight of 2320#; a tongue weight of 240#; and GVWR(which I seriously doubt I would approach in my way of camping but I honestly haven’t weighed it acquire an accurate weight of my trailer packed and ready to go).
I am planning to buy a Tacoma TRD Sport with 4WD & stated tow capacity of 6400#; and a trailer hitch( not sure if it is the trailer package as provided by Toyota but I was told that it was ‘factory’. Do you think this is a combination that is safe and mechanically ok? Thank you
I bought a 2021 Tacoma TRD
I bought a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport in Cement. I have a 6ft bed which was a must. I love my truck but I'm curious to know what brand shocks they use. If the use Fox for the TRD Pro and Bilstein for the Trd Off Road, what do they use for the Sport? Curious to know. And can I switch the shocks to a Billstein or Fox if I want? How would that affect my warranty?
