I just spent a week cruising around in the 2024 Hyundai Elantra HEV Limited, and it left me seriously impressed. Here's the lowdown on what it's like to live with this feature-packed hybrid for a whole week.

The 2024 Hyundai Eleantra's fuel efficiency was easily the biggest win for me. I noticed that some other online reviewers say that it has an EPA estimate of 56 mpg highway and 53 mpg city, which would make filling up a distant memory. However, my vehicle's window sticker clearly states that the hybrid Elantra Limited's fuel efficiency is 50 MPG and 49/52 city/highway respectively. It's still very good MPG for a hybrid vehicle. In any case, whether you're a city commuter or love weekend road trips, this Elantra will keep your wallet happy. Plus, during my week, even with mixed driving, I managed to stay very close to those EPA numbers – that's real-world fuel economy you can count on.

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra strikes a sweet spot for drivers looking for a practical and stylish car that won't break the bank. Traditionally seen as reliable first-car options, compact sedans like the Elantra offer great fuel economy and maneuverability, making them perfect for navigating city streets and tight parking spots.

But Hyundai doesn't stop there. They've wrapped this practicality in a head-turning design that makes the Elantra a looker on the road.

The 2024 Elantra Offers Rich Technology

Hyundai isn't messing around when it comes to tech. The Limited trim comes with a sweet dual-screen setup – one for your gauges and another for the infotainment system. It's easy to use and see everything at a glance, no wrestling with menus is required. Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, which is a huge plus for smartphone users like myself.

Let's elaborate a little further on the 2024 Elantra's infotainment and connectivity.

Depending on the trim you choose, you'll be treated to either a standard setup or an upgraded, dual-screen experience.

Standard Setup

For those opting for the SE or SEL trim, the Elantra comes with a respectable 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system features Hyundai's latest user interface, known for its intuitive layout and easy-to-use menus. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, allowing seamless integration of your smartphone for navigation, music streaming, and more. Plus, a built-in Wi-Fi connection keeps you connected on the go.

Dual-Screen Spectacle (SEL Convenience Package and Above)

Spring for the SEL Convenience Package or higher trims, and you'll be greeted by a show-stopping dual-screen setup. A crisp 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster sits directly behind the steering wheel, displaying essential driving information like speed, RPMs, and fuel level in a fully customizable layout. Right next to it, another 10.3-inch touchscreen takes center stage on the dashboard, housing the infotainment system.

This larger touchscreen provides ample real estate for navigation, music selection, and even displaying multiple functions simultaneously using a split-screen view.  The voice-recognition system allows you to control various features like climate control or heated seats with simple voice commands, keeping your eyes focused on the road.

Sound that Surrounds You

No matter which infotainment system you choose, you'll be treated to a decent six-speaker stereo system. However, if you're an audiophile, the Limited and N Line trims elevate your listening experience with a premium Bose eight-speaker sound system.

What's New In 2024 Elantra?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra gets a mid-cycle refresh, keeping this popular compact sedan competitive and stylish. Here's what's new for this year's model: sharper look, standing out from the crowd, accent on safety, and enhanced driver assistance.

The most noticeable change is the new front fascia. Hyundai has given the Elantra a more aggressive look with a sharper grille and updated headlights. The taillights have also been redesigned, giving the car a sleeker overall appearance.

New wheel designs and a wider range of exterior colors, including the eye-catching Exotic Green and Ultimate Red, allow you to personalize your Elantra and make a statement on the road.

Hyundai prioritizes safety with the addition of rear side-impact airbags and a rear-seat seatbelt reminder as standard equipment across the entire Elantra lineup.

Existing driver-assistance features like lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert have been upgraded to provide haptic feedback through the steering wheel. This subtle but effective improvement helps you stay aware of your surroundings and avoid potential hazards.

2024 Hyundai Elantra's Trims and Prices

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra offers a variety of trims to suit your needs and budget, ranging from the value-focused SE to the feature-packed Limited Hybrid. In fact, it's one of the 6 affordable new sporty cars in the U.S.

Here's a breakdown of what each trim level brings to the table:

SE ($22,775): The gateway to the Elantra experience, the SE packs in the essentials like a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, automatic transmission, and Hyundai's SmartSense suite of safety features. This includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind-spot collision warning – all for a starting price under $23,000.

SEL ($24,725): Stepping up to the SEL adds some comfort and convenience features like a sunroof, heated front seats, and a larger touchscreen display for your infotainment system.

Blue Hybrid ($27,400): Here's where eco-conscious drivers can rejoice! The Blue Hybrid boasts an efficient hybrid powertrain that delivers impressive gas mileage without sacrificing performance. You'll also get some additional standard features like alloy wheels and keyless entry.

Limited ($28,215): If luxury is your thing, the Limited trim pampers you with leatherette upholstery, a Bose premium sound system, and navigation. Plus, you get all the bells and whistles from the SEL trim.

N Line ($29,615): Calling all driving enthusiasts! The N Line injects a dose of sportiness with a more powerful engine, sportier suspension, and unique design elements. It's the Elantra for those who crave a little more excitement behind the wheel.

Limited Hybrid ($30,600): The top of the line Limited Hybrid combines the luxurious features of the Limited trim with the fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain. It's the ultimate choice for drivers who want it all – comfort, efficiency, and a touch of style.

So, which Elantra is right for you? Consider your priorities – budget, desired features, and driving style.

Spacious Interior Enough for Everyday Adventures:

Don't let the "compact" label deceive you. There's plenty of space for passengers in both the front and back seats. Plus, the trunk offers a good amount of cargo room for groceries, weekend luggage, or even a small bike.

As you step inside, the first thing that grabs your attention is the sculpted dashboard and center console that wrap around the driver. This creates a sense of focus and puts all the essential controls within easy reach. The passenger side takes a more minimalist approach, offering a clean and airy feel.

Adding to the futuristic vibe is a unique LED light strip that stretches across the entire dashboard, following the contours of the air vent. This strip creates a subtle yet stylish ambient glow, especially at night.

While the design might steal the show initially, don't underestimate the Elantra's practicality. Passenger space is generous, especially in the back seat. This allows the Elantra to compete with rivals known for their roomy interiors, like the Nissan Sentra and Volkswagen Jetta. Whether you're carrying a full crew or friends for a night out, the Elantra offers ample space for everyone to relax comfortably.

The Elantra's interior might not feel as luxurious as it appears in photos. Hyundai utilizes hard plastic throughout the cabin, which is a common practice in this price segment. However, the materials are tastefully designed and well-put-together, offering a clean and modern aesthetic without breaking the bank.

How Does It Compare?

While the Elantra might not be the sportiest option in its class, competitors like the Honda Civic and Mazda 3 offer a more engaging driving experience. However, the Elantra holds its own with a smooth ride that's perfect for everyday driving.

Here's where the Elantra really shines: value. Compared to rivals, the Elantra comes packed with features and technology for a very attractive price tag. Plus, its fuel efficiency, especially with the hybrid option, makes it a budget-friendly choice in the long run.

Smooth Ride, Easy Drive

The Elantra HEV isn't going to win any drag races, and it doesn't need to, but that's not what it's built for. The hybrid powertrain delivers a smooth, comfortable ride that's perfect for cruising around town or navigating highway traffic. There's also a sport mode for those times you want a little more pep in your step.

Should You Take The 2024 Hyundai Elantra for a Spin?

Absolutely! If you're looking for a fuel-efficient, tech-savvy car with a comfortable ride, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra HEV Limited definitely deserves a spot on your test drive list. It's a great option for eco-conscious drivers who don't want to compromise on style, comfort, or the latest technology.
