Torque News reader Kevin sent us a comment under our Tundra predictions story and wrote that truck can never have enough storage as people use it to move things. Here are Kevin's opinions on the future updates Toyota needs to do on Tundra.
Toyota needs to update the interior of the Tundra truck with more modern features, better materials and a better design. When they did the mid model change in 2014 they took away some of the storage bins, like the dual glove compartment and armrest storage.
You can never have enough storage in a truck.
I believe they will up the Tundra engines to utilize the D4S system found in other Toyota trucks as well as the Atkinson mode to save fuel. The V6 Twin Turbo that is found in the new Lexus LS can be returned for light truck duty. I don't think Toyota will go with a Diesel, but offer a Hybrid option.
Diesel regulations are getting too tough and Toyota is the leader in Hybrids.
The exterior styling should follow how the Tacoma looks. The current Tundra needs to have its styling updated and shrink the grill.
Toyota also needs to shorten the time between new models in their truck division. It has been 10 years for the Tacoma. The Seqouia hasn't changed since 2007. The
4Runner is getting old and has been around since 2010.
The Tundra had a slight update in 2014 but is basically the same Truck.

Toyota already has a 5L
Toyota already has a 5L diesel Cummins that’s to be released in the 2018 model year. I am not sure if it will come to United States.

Tundra sport may be coming
Tundra sport may be coming next. They keep everything a secret. The pubic can find out as fast as I can (Toyota employee). Trust me when I say they don’t make drastic moves or changes. It’s all about money. If it stops making money they make changes.
Diesel is already dead. By
Diesel is already dead. By the way Toyota has already began diesel scrappage site in Europe.
Toyota is a leader in every
Toyota is a leader in every market except trucks. The Tundra sucks. The oldest and worst technology in the market. Quit following Ford, and be Toyota. The Tundra needs a 10 speed transmission. Bring back the rear seat from the 2013 crew. Heated steering wheel option, Trailer tow cam, different from rear view camera, that shows from the hitch area. V6 turbo, 2 gas V8's, and a Diesel. You want loyal Tundra owners, stay true to them, Build a Toyota, do not chase Ford or GM
Im sorry but to disagree at
Im sorry but to disagree at your comment Toyota Tundra sucks, 07 Tundra 350,000 miles with no problems, no failures besides recalls, still have same engine components, dont care about tech upgrades. it takes me from LA to Northern Ca every Month and travel 200 miles a day without any failures.
I’ve had an FJ Cruiser for
I’ve had an FJ Cruiser for almost 12 years now. I love it. I tow a small trailer and use it for everyday back and forth to work. I now want a bigger trailer and will need a bigger truck. The Tundra can pull it but the everyday gas mileage is horrible. Would love it if they could make a hybrid and still strong enough to pull 10000 pounds. Want to stay with Toyota but might not be able to if they don’t come up with something soon
I own a 2018 Toyota Tundra
I own a 2018 Toyota Tundra Limited I have owned several Tundras I feel with gas prices going up The Toyota Tundra needs a Hybrid in the Tundra so they can be more competitive with the other companies. Better fuel economy on the Toyota Tundra.
Tundra is a great truck
Tundra is a great truck already just need to make a hybrid or 6 cylinder turbo to improve gas mileage. We have a hybrid Highlander and love it, plenty of power.
Not everyone needs a pickup with 8 cylinders, I have a Ford F-150 6 cylinder that has plenty of power and good gas mileage. I would definitely buy a Tundra hybrid or 6 cylinder model if available. I don’t think the A- Bat will sell.
