We have been hearing about Volkswagen's New Midsized Sedan for months now and thanks to a not-so-subtle plug on the company website, we know now that the car known just as the NMS will be formally introduced at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.
Little is known about the 2012 Volkswagen New Midsized Sedan (NMS) other than the fact that it will be built at VW’s Chattanooga, Tennessee production facility. VW has done a masterful job of avoiding the spy photographers and preventing information from sneaking out prior to the debut but that we can speculate is that the NMS will be slightly larger than the new Jetta, replacing the current Passat while sporting an exterior design similar to the popular Jetta. Volkswagens press conference at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show is planned for 10:45am next Monday, so by lunch on the 10th, we (on the East Coast) will have the full details on the vehicle currently known as the 2012 Volkswagen New Midsized Sedan.
Volkswagen and Audi both saw huge sales years in the US market and the company expects to continue a rapid growth over the next few years. The 2012 VW NMS will be sold in other markets but this car was reportedly designed with the US market as the main priority, so whatever this car will be called – it will be very important in helping Volkswagen reach their lofty goals over the next few years.
