General Motors still hasn’t had a whole lot to say about the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 since the car leaked on the December cover of Car & Driver magazine, but the video below officially announces that the new supercar will be introduced on November 12th – along with giving us our first chance to hear the new LT5 roar.
Earlier this week, we got our first real look at the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 courtesy of the December issue of Car & Driver magazine. On that leaked magazine cover, we learned that the mysterious Corvette test cars buzzing around Metro Detroit with a huge rear wing is indeed the new ZR1 and that the new Chevy sports car would deliver a whopping 750 horsepower.
The confirmation that the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was coming with 750 horsepower was more than enough information to get the attention of the American performance car world, but shortly after the cover of the magazine leaked – information from inside the December issue of Car & Driver leaked as well. At that point, we learned that it would deliver 680lb-ft of torque, that it will weigh 3,664lbs and it will cost at least $120,000, along with an array of other information that you can check out by clicking here.
While the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, Chevrolet has posted a teaser video of what we are all-but-sure that this short clips shows a collection of close-up views of the 2019 Corvette ZR1. We see lots of carbon fiber, what appears to be the front grille, what appears to be the rear spoilers or perhaps a front splitter and we see a set of bright-polished exhaust tips. Throughout the video, we can hear the grumble of an idling engine and as the camera pans across the exhaust tips, the engine revs – presumably giving us our first official chance to hear the new LT5 engine of the C7 ZR1 in action.
Finally, the video closes with the date 11-12-17, which we can guess is the day that the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be introduced to the world. It is expected that the 750hp supercar will make its initial debut at an event in Dubai while being broadcast around the world via the Official Corvette Facebook page, with an American debut set for the LA Auto Show later this month.
