Most of the 2020 Dodge Charger models that are carried over from 2019 cost a little more for 2020, with the exception of the Scat Pack, which starts under $40,000 for the new model year.
The biggest news for the 2020 Dodge Charger is the introduction of the new widebody package for the Hellcat, Scat Pack and limited Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition. Since being introduced, we have been bombarded with questions on widebody Charger pricing so when FCA issued all of the numbers for the new model year last week, we focused on those three hot models.
Today, we bring you a look at the 2020 Dodge Charger trim levels that have remained relatively unchanged for the new model year, including the SXT, the GT, the R/T and the Scat Pack with the standard-width body. Most of these models have seen their base prices increase slightly while the 485-horsepower Scat Pack will cost you a little less for a 2020 model.
Below is a breakdown of base pricing for each 2020 Dodge Charger trim level, none of which include destination fees or, if applicable, Gas Guzzler Tax. Also since the 8-speed ZF automatic is standard in all models, all of these prices obviously include that gearbox. This does not include the Daytona model for the R/T and Scat Pack, but once those prices are available, we will update this piece.
First up, we have the 2020 Dodge Charger SXT, which is the entry level trim for the popular sport sedan. Powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, offering 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, this model starts at $29,470 right now, but for 2020, it the base price for the Charger is $29,895 – up $395. This is the largest price hike for the 2020 Charger, excluding the Hellcat with the now-standard widebody.
The SXT is also available with an advanced all-wheel-drive system and if you buy a 2019 Charger SXT AWD today, the base price is $33,570. For the 2020 model year, the SXT AWD starts at $33,595, so it costs just $25 more. As was the case for 2019 models, the SXT AWD gets a slight bump in power to 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque.
2020 Dodge Charger GT Pricing
Next up, we have the second trim level powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which delivers the same 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque as the SXT AWD. Some of you might recall that the GT package was introduced as an all-wheel-drive package, but over the past few years, it has transitioned to being more of a V6 sport model, featuring a loaded interior and an exterior that looks a great deal like the Scat Pack model.
For 2019, the Charger GT in rear-drive form started at $31,745, but for 2020, it starts $150 more at $31,895. Also, while there was an all-wheel-drive Charger GT offered in 2019, that configuration is not currently listed for the 2020 model year.
2020 Dodge Charger R/T Pricing
Next up, we have the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T, which is motivated by the 5.7-liter Hemi that delivers 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. This “entry V8” trim level started at $36,245 in 2019, but for 2020, it climbs $150 to $36,395.
2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack Pricing
The 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack packs the 6.4-liter, 392-cubic inch Hemi that offers 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. This powerful V8 has served as a sort of bargain performance package for several years now, but for 2020, it is the one model that costs less than it did in 2019.
The 2020 Charger Scat Pack with the standard-width body starts at $39,999, down $250 from the base price of $40,245 from the 2019 model year. In other words, the best bang-for-the-buck in the sport sedan segment is getting $250 better for 2020.
Of course, as mentioned in our piece last week, the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack Widebody starts $6,000, with a price of $45,995, which includes the wider body, wider wheels, wider tires and a suspension setup that has been retuned to make the most of the extra rubber at all four corners.
2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat
Finally, while we have already talked about 2020 Charger Hellcat pricing in detail, the 707-horsepower super sedan starts at $69,645, and that includes the now-standard widebody package. There is no “narrow body” Hellcat Charger for 2020, so that is the effective starting point for anyone buying the supercharged sedan.
However, those who want a little more power, a unique look at plenty of exclusivity will likely lean towards the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition, which has the longest name in the industry and a starting price of $74,140.
