The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat with the standard widebody package costs slightly less than we expected, with pricing beginning at $69,645 before Gas Guzzler Tax and Destination Fees.
After months of speculation, we know how much the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat with the standard widebody package will cost when it goes on sale later this year. We had speculated that the Hellcat Charger with the standard widebody system would cost $6,000 more than current models, leading to a price of just below $75,000. We made that assumption because on the Hellcat Challenger, the widebody package cost $6,000, but on the muscular coupe, it is an option whereas on the sedan the widebody package is standard on 2020 Hellcat models.
Well, it turns out that our estimate of ‘around $75,000’ wasn’t far off, as the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat with the standard widebody package has a base price of $69,645, but when you add the $2,100 Gas Guzzler Tax and the $1,495 Destination Fee, the "out the door price" comes to $73,240.
“With 707 horsepower, a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds, .96 g on the skid pad and a suggested starting price less than $70k, the new 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is a unicorn in the performance sedan segment,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “Nowhere but Dodge can you find a sedan with the power and performance per dollar across the entire Charger lineup.”
2020 Hellcat Charger Pricing
As mentioned above, the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat with the standard widebody package has a starting base price of $69,645. The 2019 Charger SRT Hellcat without the widebody package starts at $65,795, so on the surface, the widebody package only adds $3,850 to the bottom line, but the new models get a little pricier elsewhere. The Gas Guzzler Tax for the 2020 Charger Hellcat is $2,100, up from $1,700 in 2019, while the Destination Fee holds steady at $1,495.
In other words, the 2019 Hellcat Charger with the standard body had an "out the door price" before any options of $68,990 while the 2020 model has a comparable price of $73,240, so the new model year actually starts $4,250 higher. In any case, the price hike is a little less than we expected for the factory-stock 10-second sedan.
Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition Pricing
If you want the limited edition look and the 10 extra horsepower of the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition, you will need to dig a little deeper into your pockets. The price before Gas Guzzler Tax and Destination Fees, the 717-horsepower Hellcat Daytona starts at $74,140, but when you tack on those unavoidable charges, the 50th Anniversary sedan starts at $77,735.
This means that the unique look and the extra horsepower of the Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition Charger will cost you about $4,500.
Scat Pack Widebody
Finally, the 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack with the standard body width starts at $39,995 before Gas Guzzler Tax or Destination Fees, while the widebody version starts $6,000 higher at $45,995.
We still don’t have a firm date when the 2020 Dodge Charger will go on sale, with the announcement of the pricing still stating simply “this fall”, with the first new Hellcat cars expected to reach dealerships early next year.
