The Ford F150 is the bestselling new vehicle in America for almost four decades so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the F150 is also the most popular vehicle among all five main branches of the American Armed Forces.

The folks from the United Services Automobile Associate conduct a study each year which tracks the new vehicle buying habits of the men and women of the Air Force, the Army, the Marines, the Navy and the Coast Guard. The USAA has just released the results of their study for 2014 and for the second year in a row, the Ford F150 was the most popular new vehicle across all five branches of the Armed Forces.

In addition to the Ford F150, there were a handful of vehicles that were on all of the lists for the five branches while others appeared three and four times. Overall, the lists for the different members of the US military had most of the same vehicles, just in different order. For the most part, it seems as though the soldiers lean towards the vehicles which are considered the most reliable in the US, few of which are from American brands. Overall, it seems as though American soldiers prefer Japanese cars, but the F150 still ranks first on every chart.

Other Regulars on the Lists
The Toyota Camry appears in the top 3 of all five lists, including ranking second among Air Force and Army buyers.
The Honda Accord appears in the top 5 of all five lists, ranking as high as second among members of the Navy,
The Honda Civic appears on all five of the lists, ranking as high as fifth among the Air Force, the Marines and the Navy.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 appears on all five lists, ranking as high as second in the case of the Marines.

The Honda CRV is the highest ranking SUV, appearing on four of the lists, as the Marines are the only group which don’t love the little Honda crossover.
The Jeep Wrangler appeared on four of the lists, excluding only the Air Force, ranking 4th among the Coast Guard.
The Ford Fusion appears on four of the five lists, with just the Coast Guard not loving the Fusion.

The Hyundai Sonata is the only Korean car on the lists, with three of the five branches making the midsized sedan one of their favorites.
The Nissan Altima made the top ten for three branches – the Air Force, the Army and the Marines, with the highest position being 5th (Army).

The Toyota Prius is the only hybrid on the list, with only the Air Force and Navy strong interest.
The Toyota Tacoma is the only small truck on the list and the only Japanese truck on the list, ranking second among members of the Coast Guard and 8th among Marines.

Finally, three vehicles appeared just once on the list, with two of them on the Coast Guard top ten list (Volkswagen Jetta and Subaru Outback) and the Ford Focus appearing 10th on the Marines list.
