The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is the most track capable Camaro of all time, but for those folks who need more than the 505 horsepower offered by the standard LS7 V8, the folks at Callaway have put together the new SC652 package that brings the output up to 652 horsepower and 620lb-ft of torque.
The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is powered by the same LS7 V8 that was previously reserved for the C6 Corvette Z06, with 505 horsepower and 481lb-ft of torque working to make this track read road car one of the best performing Camaros of all time. That 505 horsepower was enough to help GM shatter the record for American muscle cars at the famed Nürburgring in Germany IN THE RAIN…but some people just need more power.
That is where the folks at Callaway come into play as their new SC652 package for the 2014 Z/28 lifts the power levels well into the range of the best supercars in the world.
If you are familiar with Callaway performance packages, the SC652 name for the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 indicates that it is supercharged and packs 652 horsepower. That is a huge jump over the 505 standard horsepower in the factory stock Z/28 so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the torque figures jump as well – from 481 to 620lb-ft of torque. This increase has been achieved by adding an Eaton TVS R2300 supercharger, a liquid to air intercooler system, larger fuel injectors, a high flow air intake system to feed the supercharger, a high flow exhaust system and a performance engine calibration that helps all of these components work together to hit those monster power numbers.
Callaway adds some aesthetic touches as well including carbon fiber injector covers, embroidered floor mats, Callaway branded door sill panels, unique SC652 badging, a serialized dash plaque and a Callaway key fob. Best of all, this Callaway Camaro SC652 package comes with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.
There is one downside for the Callaway SC652 Camaro Z/28 – only ten units will be made. This will make the package hard to get, but that exclusivity adds to the future collectable value of this supercharged Z/28. This package carries an MSRP of $19,995 so when added to the $75,000 base price of the 2014 Camaro Z/28, the 652 horsepower Callaway Camaro Z/28 SC652 starts right around $95,000. That is a whole lot of money, but for someone who is paying $75,000 for a new Z/28 – what’s another $20k? Those who have even more money to invest in their Z/28 can get a Callaway branded car cover for $540, an extended 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty for $2,900 and a Callaway factory tour that comes with a special delivery presentation. The tour and delivery package is free, so I don’t know why every person who orders the new SC652 wouldn’t opt for the Callaway factory delivery.
If you are one of the individuals who has pre-ordered a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, you can contact Callaway right now to make arrangements to have your Z/28 supercharged up to 652 horsepower but with only 10 units being sold, I wouldn’t wait very long.
