The 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise is just under a month away and with the massive cruise date looming, Chevrolet Camaro owners will be happy to hear that the Camaro Corral is back for the second year – giving Camaro owners and fans a place of their own similar to Ford’s Mustang Alley.
While the Ford Mustang crowd has long had “Mustang Alley” at the Woodward Dream Cruise, fans and owners of the Chevrolet Camaro have not had their own designated area at the legendary Detroit automotive event – until the Camaro Corral was introduced for the 2014 Woodward Dream Cruise. Massive flooding dampened the event last year, but not the spirit of the Camaro Corral attendees, who had their area cut down significantly just before the big day.
Even with the bothersome weather, the Camaro Corral was a success in 2014 and for 2015, the Chevy muscle car crowd will get to enjoy their own area once again at the upcoming Woodward Dream Cruise.
Woodward Dream Cruise Camaro Corral
I had a chance to speak with Brian Meissen, president of the Michigan Camaro and Firebird enthusiast group mifbody.com. Brian is also heavily involved with the organization of the Camaro Corral so while he isn’t “in charge” – he has a big part in making the Camaro Corral happen.
As was the case in 2014, the Camaro Corral at the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise will be located in Pleasant Ridge, on the west (southbound) side of Woodward Avenue, just south of I-696. This area is open to Chevrolet Camaro models from every generation, but the space is limited to just 150 parking spots, so if you want to display your Camaro in the Corral, you should head over to the official Facebook page of the Camaro Corral, where you can easily register for the event.
As this piece goes live, there 27 Camaro owners signed up to park in the Camaro Corral, with representatives from the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th generations of the GM muscle car – and I’m sure that at least a few 3rd gen owners will sign up before the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise on August 15th. The Dream Cruise
If you have not been to the Woodward Dream Cruise before, you are missing out on what is one of the most unique automotive events in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of people flock to the parking lots and roadsides lining Woodward Ave for miles, with classic and modern cars, trucks and SUVs cruising the ave all day long. The parking lots along the Dream Cruise route are all packed car shows and in the areas surround public parking, you will find plenty of food and drink concessions.
Finally, while the Woodward Dream Cruise began as a small event, it has grown to be big enough to have major corporate backing, so you will find a massive Chrysler Group display on one corner of Woodward and 13 mile road with the Chevrolet Performance area just up the road. The Ford display and Mustang Alley are located on 9 mile road, straddling Woodward Ave.
