A new video of a turbocharged 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is currently making its rounds across the various social networks and while we have heard plenty of other C7 Corvette’s in action – I believe that this might just be the meanest, nastiest sounding new Stingray that I’ve heard thus far.
This video of what we are lead to believe is the first turbocharged 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was posted by Strasse Wheels to show off their Carbon Fiber Series wheels. Unfortunately for Strasse, the video quality is such that we really can’t see much detail in the wheels other than the fact that they are black with a silver center cap but even if we got a great look at these new rollers – the sound of this Corvette overshadows anything else going on in the video.
We really don’t know anything about the bright white 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe shown in the video below shy of the fact that it features some sort of turbo setup…although the whine at high RPM almost makes me question whether this car is actually supercharged. If I had to make an educated guess, I would figure that there is an aftermarket exhaust system at work as well but judging by the nice, smooth idle, I would guess that this Corvette could still be relying on a stock engine (shy of the forced induction setup of course). In any case, the combination of the new LT1 engine, a turbocharger or supercharger setup and the deafening exhaust system along with the supporting modifications needed for the forced induction setup create what I believe to be the best sounding new Corvette that I have ever heard.
The Hennessey 2014 Corvette Stingray that we watched cruise along a Texas highway at speeds that likely topped 200 miles per hour sounded very nice but the raspy exhaust and the ear piercing whistle of the turbo or blower is like a symphony of automotive awesomeness. The two hard, quick revs of the boosted LT1 engine about 11 seconds in makes this Corvette sound more like a 6 figure exotic European supercar and considering how well the LS engine series accepted boost – this boosted LT1 might pack enough power to outrun those high priced Italian and German sports cars while also sounding every bit as cool (if not cooler). After the two spine chilling revs of the engine, the Corvette slowly accelerates away and then hits it hard for just a second before the video comes to an end and not surprisingly, this C7 Vette sounds incredible as it pulls away as well.
I will warn you that the video of the first turbocharged (although it may be supercharged) 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is not the best quality as the cameraman was holding the camera at a very awkward angle but provided that you can look past the poor camera work, the sheer sound of this Corvette makes it one of the best C7 videos that I have seen thus far.
