Today, the Chevrolet Camaro Facebook page posted a video of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 piloted by Camaro performance engineer Tony Roma doing a nasty, smokey burnout with the incredible new super Camaro and after some digging on the internet – we were able to find that same burnout from a couple different angles so that we can see even more smokey awesomeness.
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is fitted with a launch control system designed to help make it more manageable to get the 580 horsepower muscle car off of the line at the drag strip but by the looks of these videos; those nanny features can be disabled for optimal burnout capabilities.
The first video below of the 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 roasting the high performance 20” Goodyear tires was the one posted on the Chevrolet Camaro Facebook page but after seeing that one, I went hunting for a video that showed more of that burnout. As you can hear in this first video, the ZL1 continues to smoke the tires once it leaves the frame – which got me searching for more.
The results of my search were a trio of videos of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 doing that same burnout from different angles and a video of another burnout with the ZL1 facing the other direction – presumably when he turned around and came back after the first massive burnout. Every video shows the awesome superchared V8 engine of the ZL1 in action, exercising all 580 horsepower and 556lb-ft of torque while destroying the pricey 20" performance tires of the Camaro ZL1.
Below, you will find a video of that first burnout from a different cameraman, who followed the ZL1 as it slide sideways a bit and continued to destroy the rear tires as it moved away from the crowd. After that, there is another video of that burnout from a camera sitting on the ground right behind the ZL1 as it sped away and finally, we have a video of another ZL1 burnout headed in the opposite direction.
These videos don’t offer much in the way of showing off the performance capabilities of the new Chevy Camaro ZL1 but with every muscle car owner in the world loving a good, smokey burnout; videos like these ones are likely to resonate well with the gearheads of the world.
Production and delivery of the incredible 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 have begun and with the first models reaching the hands of owners around the country – those who like racing on the drag strip, the road course or the open road should prepare themselves for meetings with this 580 horsepower monster.
Anyways, crank up your speakers and enjoy these Camaro ZL1 videos!
