It is a tough time to be selling any EV right now. Trump has eased the all-electric mandate and gasoline’s price is way down. GMC just cut the price on the 2026 GMC Sierra EV and added two trims that are very popular on the ICE models but is it enough to get people to buy an EV? GMC added the Elevation equipment as well as the wildly popular AT4 package to the 2026 Sierra EV. Similarly, Chevrolet just raced the Silverado EV ZR2 in an offroad race. That typically spurs sales.
I asked a man driving a newer Chevy Silverado if he would consider buying an EV truck and his response was “Not right now.” He said he was enjoying the lower gas prices and not interested in having to adapt to an electric vehicle. He said he would consider it in the future, but now isn’t the time.
Anyone who is in the market to buy an electric truck will find good pricing right now. The premium Elevation and rugged AT4 trims give GMC a full lineup. The starting price for the EVs has been dropped to a starting MSRP of $64,495 and that includes the $2,095 destination charge. That is quite a drop considering the GMC Sierra Denali Edition 1 started at $97,500. The Chevrolet Silverado EV starts in the $57,000 range.
“With these additional trims and customer options, the Sierra EV is positioned right in the heart of the premium truck market,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, global vice president, Buick GMC. “The combination of Elevation, AT4, and Denali represent the most popular expressions of Sierra, accounting for more than 2 out of 3 of all Sierra light-duty sales. The result is a compelling all-electric lineup for those customers looking for cutting-edge technology, capability and refinement. The Sierra EV is a real truck that does real truck things, matched with EV performance and advanced tech. With the expansion of the line-up, we can’t wait to get more customers behind the wheel.”
Real Trucks at the Heart of the EVs
The Sierra EV lineup now offers a wide selection of battery options, Standard, Extended and Max Range. Elevation will be available with a Standard or Extended Range battery, while AT4 will be available with an Extended or Max Range battery. The Denali trim will offer all three battery options. Range estimates for all trims will be announced closer to launch.
Pricing depends on the trim level and the battery type that is purchased. Elevation will start at an MSRP of $64,495, Denali will start at an MSRP of $71,795 and AT4 will start at an MSRP of $81,395. The top price appears to be the Denali trim with the maximum range battery at $100,695.
2026 Sierra EV AT4
While the Denali model is the most luxurious, the Sierra EV AT4 brings GMC’s legendary off-road capability to the electric pickup market. The AT4 rides on 35-inch all-terrain tires, and is designed to provide maximum maneuverability, torque, and control while off-road.
Additional AT4 features include:
- 2 inches of additional ground clearance
- Standard 4-Wheel Steer featuring the ability to CrabWalk
- Standard Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance tech
- Available MultiPro MidGate expandable truck bed
- Available 800 Volt DC public fast charging adding up to 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes
- Available 10.2kW Energy Transfer Pro off-board power system, with 240-Volt and 120-Volt outlets in the truck bed
- Up to 12,300 pounds max towing
Sierra EV Elevation Features:
- 16.8-inch diagonal center touchscreen
- eTrunk with power-operated hood
- MultiPro Tailgate and Available MultiPro MidGate
- Available 800-volt DC fast charge-capable
- Available 7.2kW Energy Transfer off-boarding power system
- Available Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology
One huge advantage the GMC Sierra EV and the Chevrolet Silverado EV have going for them right now is that they are both built in Michigan so they shouldn’t be crippled by the proposed tariffs. Some of the components may come from out of the country but not the entire vehicle. That should help keep prices more affordable.
