Thanks to a variety of leaked company documents and images, we have known for some time now that there would be a new green color option for the 2013 Ford Mustang and with the opening of the 2011 Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, the Gotta Have It Green Ford Mustang made its official debut.

For those unfamiliar with the Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando (PRI), in past years Ford has used this show to roll out high performance race models and this year was no different with the unveiling of the 2013 Ford Racing Cobra Jet Mustang (we will talk more about that later) but the bigger news for enthusiasts is the 2013 Ford Mustang GT clad in the new Gotta Have It Green paint option. Early rumors suggested that this new green shade would only be offered on the Boss 302 models but at PRI, Ford brought out a 2013 Mustang GT fitted with all sorts of Ford Racing goodies with the gorgeous bright green paint scheme finishing the package. While this super-modified 2013 Mustang is a far cry from an official word that Gotta Have It Green will be offered on all 2013 Mustangs, this is a step in the right direction for prospective Mustang owners who want their pony car in bright metallic green.

In addition to the new green paint scheme being shown off at PRI 2011, this was the first chance for many of the local Ford faithful to get their look at the revised 2013 Ford Mustang. The 2013 Mustang made its debut recently at the 2011 LA Auto Show with styling cues borrowed from the Ford Shelby GT500 and PRI offered show goers on Orlando this week a look at the new body with new paint - along with a huge list of Ford Racing modifications. Key items are the 624 horsepower Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger, a high flow exhaust system with rear and side exit tips, gobs of Ford Racing suspension items, 19” black wheels borrowed from the GT Track Pack and a Ford Racing front splitter similar to what Boss 302 owners get.

Again, the fact that Ford Racing brought out a 2013 Ford Mustang GT sporting the new Gotta Have It Green paint option might not ensure that it is available on all 2013 Mustang models. However, considering that the rest of the items featured on the 2013 Mustang GT displayed this week at PRI are available for the 2013 (and in some cases, 2012) Ford Mustang, there is a good chance that Gotta Have It Green will be on the option list for both the limited edition 2013 Mustang Boss 302 and the 2013 Mustang GT - if not the entry level V6 and the Shelby GT500 as well.

By the way, as you can see in the gallery, this bright green 2013 Mustang GT was turned onto its side so that show goers could see all of the undercarriage modifications so that is why the images of the car sitting “upright” might look a little odd - especially compared to the background. However, these shots bring us the first official look at the new green paint code coming for the 2013 Mustang.
