Roush has announced the details of their new Nitemare package for the 2018 Ford F-150, featuring a unique look, an adaptive exhaust system and a supercharger that lifts the output to 650 horsepower – all for about $17,000 over the price of buying the truck.
Roush has offered the Nitemare package for the Ford F-150 several times, starting back in 2007 when it increased the output to 443-horsepower and followed-up in 2017 when it boasted 600 horsepower. For the 2018 model year, there is another power increase – this time to 650 horsepower – along with some exterior upgrades that help set this truck apart from the hundreds of thousands of F-150 pickups sold every year.
2018 F-150 Nitemare
While there is a list of features that make up the Roush Nitemare, the heart of the package is under the hood. The 5.0-liter V8 is fitted with a Roush TVS R2650 supercharger, lifting the horsepower output from 395 to 650, making this one of the most powerful aftermarket packages offered for the V8-powered half-ton F-Series pickup.
In addition to the big power, the Roush Nitemare adds an adjustable exhaust system that allows the driver to use a smartphone app to make the F-150 louder or quieter. There are preset volume modes along with full customization, so using the app and a set of valves in the exhaust system, the driver can select the ideal sound level for any driving situation.
Finally, the Nitemare packages adds new 22-inch wheels wrapped in high performance rubber, Roush badging and a Raptor-like grille with the Roush name across the middle.
Pricing
The Roush Nitemare starts at $16,995, which obviously doesn’t include the price of the truck. The truck shown here is a SuperCrew model with the V8, which starts at $37,735 in rear-drive XL form, so adding a $17k upgrade package to that “base” V8 truck with the SuperCrew configuration will cost around $55,000. That is less than the Raptor, although a Nitemare built on an F-150 XL will lack all of the tricked out suspension and interior gadgets of the Raptor, but if you are looking for a drag truck – this could be it.
Nitemare in Action
In the video below, a 2018 Ford F-150 with the Roush Nitemare package is working out on the dyno. After the listening to the supercharged engine roar, we get a look at the dyno sheet, showing 541 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. This dyno graph also shows the stock numbers of 315 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, so the Nitemare package added 226 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
