The Chrysler Group introduced a contest of sorts last month to help name the new blue exterior paint that is offered on the 2014 SRT Viper and with the sweepstakes entering the final week of the contest – the three finalist naming ideas have been posted for voting on the DriveSRT.com website.
Even though automakers spend good money on people who help to come up with catchy names for new colors like the bright blue shown on the 2014 SRT Viper above, the Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology division wants the help of their fans (and the general public) so help name this new blue hue. While being able to say that you named a color choice for an American supercar should be incentive enough but to sweeten the deal, the Chrysler Group built a contest around the naming procedure where the grand prize winner will get a trip for two to the Rolex 24 at Daytona where the SRT Viper GT3 will make its racing debut.
The first phase of the 2014 SRT Viper blue naming contest asked fans to enter their name for the new blue and from all of those entries, the Chrysler Group picked the best three. The three initial finalists chosen were Competition Blue, Viral Blue and Blue Racer but the company opted to drop Blue Racer because it is an actual snake that is not a Viper so Overtaking Blue replaced Blue Racer. That is a bummer for the person who suggested Blue Racer but as a lifelong Dodge fan, I’m not too upset with the color not being named Blue Racer and of the three finalists – Im torn between Competition Blue and Overtaking Blue. Each of the three people who suggested the names pick for the final voting process will win an SRT Viper “speed form” sculpture worth $300 while also having a 1 in 3 shot at the grand prize.
Now that the finalists have been posted on the DriveSRT site, fans are invited to stop in and vote on their favorite of the three names for the new blue exterior option for the 2014 SRT Viper. According to the fine print in the sweepstakes legal jargon, fans can place a vote each day leading up to the final announcement on November 12th (voting actually closes on the 11th). Helping to drive interest in this contest, the new blue 2014 SRT Viper is featured in a special display at the ongoing 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. I suggested Blue Racer and I
I suggested Blue Racer and I'm sad it got dropped. I don't know if I was the first to suggest it, and unfortunately I have no proof since I didn't get a confirmation e-mail of the name submit. Only dodge knows who submitted the first Blue Racer. I am a life long Dodge fan and I own one of the first 2003 Dodge SRT4s in the state of WI. Kind of sad that name got cut. Yeah it's a snake that's not a viper, but it is a fast agile snake like the viper....
