When the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat were introduced, FCA stated that each of these supercharged muscle cars were officially able to run a fully stock ¼ mile time of 11.20 and when you swap on a set of sticky drag radial tires, that official figure drops down to 10.80. Over the past year or so, we have seen countless Hellcat Challengers and Chargers with nothing more than sticky tires and a stronger driveshaft run quicker than that 10.80 number, but we haven’t talked much about the cars with stock tires.
Due to the fact that so many Hellcat owners who drag race regularly switch to stickier tires right away, we haven’t seen many racers challenging the official stock-tire number of 11.20, but yesterday we featured Jay Gustafson, who ran an 11.084 in his Hellcat Challenger. That car is 100% stock and in addition to comfortably beating the stated Dodge number, Gustafson’s time was the quickest fully stock Hellcat time I had seen to date.
Of course, since publishing that piece, I have received a handful of notes from people who said that they saw a Hellcat Challenger or Charger running quicker times – with people claiming to have seen a fully stock Hellcat car running 10.80s – but none of those claims come with any kind of supporting information. There are no videos of those runs and there aren’t even any owners stepping up amidst these discussions in the Hellcat community to claim these incredible runs seen by other people.
However, one Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat owner spoke up with timeslips and a video of his stock-tire Mopar muscle car running an 11.077.
Patrick Lannoo’s Record Setting Hellcat Charger
The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat owner who came forward with proof of a quicker stock-tire ¼ mile time is Patrick Lannoo, who lives in California and races at Sonoma Raceway. Lannoo has been racing weekly over the past two years, spending time piloting a Dodge Challenger SRT8 with the manual transmission down the track before getting his Hellcat Charger.
Since he has been running his Hellcat Charger over the past few months, Patrick Lannoo has made plenty of runs in the 11.1 and 11.2 range, but on one particular run, he was able to pull an incredible 60 foot time of 1.678, which led to what I believe to be a record-setting ¼ mile time of 11.077 at 124.04 miles per hour. That is just 7 thousandths of a second quicker to the line than Gustafson’s Challenger, giving Lannoo the title of the quick fully stock Dodge Hellcat car on a ¼ mile drag strip.(More on Page 2)
Best of all, Patrick Lannoo had an in-car camera for his record running, so we can all ride along as he lays down an 11.07 in his fully stock Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat with the video below.
Note – I am aware that there are people who claim to have seen Hellcat cars with stock tires run quicker times, but in speaking with the most active racers in the Hellcat community, I have yet to find any proof of quicker times. If you are reading this piece and you have a run a quicker time with proof (slips, video), feel free to contact me via email at Patrick at YourAuto411 dot com.
In the meantime, the quickest fully stock Hellcat car to storm down the ¼ mile is Patrick Lannoo’s Charger with an 11.077 while the quickest fully stock Hellcat Challenger is Jay Gustafson’s 11.084.
