The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt is the most powerful of the current 5.0-liter-powered pony cars, but Steve McQueen’s son has teamed up with Steeda and Galpin Auto Sport to create a modern muscle car that lieutenant Frank Bullitt would have been proud to drive – with a little extra power, some unique appearance upgrades and an elaborate suspension package.
The 2019 Mustang Bullitt from Ford is basically a Mustang GT with 20 more horsepower, a unique exterior look, a premium interior and a price starting at $47,495 with destination. The new Bullitt is the most powerful non-special edition (SVT, Shelby, etc) version of the modern Mustang, but Steve McQueen’s son Chad saw potential for an even more elaborate Bullitt package.
“Ford’s Mustang has always been a big part of my dad’s legend. I wanted to kick the already strong performance up several notches without losing that essential style that makes this car so desirable. Less is more,” said Chad McQueen. “This Special Edition reflects the lessons my dad ingrained in me about what made his personal cars so desirable.”
Working with Galpin Auto Sport and Steeda Performance, Chad McQueen and the McQueen Racing team created the Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt Mustang. This post-title package will be limited to just 300 units per year and the package price – obviously not including the cost of the Bullitt Mustang itself – starts at $20,995 for the 500-horsepower variety.
The Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt Mustang
The Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt Mustang starts with the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt and adds a variety of appearance upgrades inside and out. On the outside, the special edition Bullitt wears a more aggressive chin spoiler, louvers on the rear quarter windows, a rear deck lid emblem (faux gas cap cover) and 20-inch Steve McQueen Edition Wheels by HRE. On the inside, the Steve McQueen package adds illuminated door sill plates, embroidered floor mats and a dash plaque with the vehicle’s serial number out of 300.
To improve the overall performance, this package includes a cold air intake and an engine tune that lifts the output to 500 horsepower, while a short throw shifter and Nitto NT555 G2 measuring 315/35-20 out back help put the power to the ground.
Finally, where the Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt Mustang really stands apart from the version sold at your local Ford dealership is in the suspension and chassis setup. Working with Steeda, this package adds an elaborate list of upgrades to the undercarriage, and that full list is found below. With this suspension package, this Bullitt Mustang might hug the corners as well as the GT350.
-Front And Rear Sway Bars With “Welded-In-Place” Solid Billet Ends
-Billet Aluminum Front and Rear Sway Bar Mounts
-IRS Subframe Bushing Support System
-IRS Subframe Alignment Kit
-IRS Subframe Support Brace

Again, the Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt Mustang has a base price of $20,995, but for an added cost, buyers can add a Whipple supercharger – lifting the output to 800 horsepower. There is also a rear seat delete kit, a four-point roll cage, heavy duty half shafts, a carbon fiber driveshaft and other options that aren’t included in the base price.
