A video has surfaced of a Nissan GT-R and a Bugatti Veyron drag racing at an airport. It includes cockpit shots and is beyond cool. You'll be amazed at the results.
The two-minute video below shows a drag race between a Nissan GT-R and a Bugatti Veyron. Both cars have seen extensive modifications. The video was shot at the Spring Event at Weeze Airport in Germany and results in a very close finish that you have to see.
These incredible supercars are not stock, of course. The Nissan GT-R has received a Switzer P800 package, reinforced gearbox, and Akrapovic exhaust system. It was a Total Car Concept project and outputs at least 800 horsepower (no dyno tests confirmed).
The Bugatti is a Masonry tuner with a modified exhaust and other updates not specified. It has not been tested on a dyno for output numbers, but it handily beat a stock Veyron in a race filmed just before this one on the same drag strip (click here to view that).
In the video, you'll see the two cars stage up at the starting line and then rip forward for the quarter-mile run. The GT-R gets the early lead off the line, with its AWD and lower torque vector, but the Veyron soon catches up. From the point of view of the first camera, it's not easy to tell who won.
The second camera view is from the GT-R's right-hand window and it shows the race was nearly all Bugatti for its entirety, once the Veyron caught up from the starting line. It finishes with a frozen shot of the finish line and it appears that the finish was either won by millimeters or was a tie.
Either way, a great showing for both vehicles and a cool race you won't see repeated often.
Im kind of surprised that the
Im kind of surprised that the GT-R didnt beat the Bugatti worse than that, considering that the Veyron weighs 14,281 pounds.
Tuning. The Veyron has a
Tuning. The Veyron has a massive amount of torque output and this one was modified and easily trounced a stock Veyron in an earlier race, so it's probably like a jet-propelled dragster.
