The March 2014 sales numbers are in for Nissan and Infiniti and they're all good. With both production and sales figures up in the U.S., things are looking good for Nissan's growth plans.
Nissan has released its March 2014 sales numbers and they mark the best-ever totals in the company's history. With 136,642 deliveries for the month for Nissan and 12,494 for Infiniti, the company also set monthly records again, marking 12 of the past 13 months with records.
The Nissan group's total sales were 149,136 units, up 8.3 percent from March 2013's 137,726 units. Most of those, of course, were in the Nissan division itself, which posted a 7.9 percent increase year-on-year for March. Infiniti saw 12.5 percent increase, though, for the same period, jumping from 11,103 units last year to 12,494 in March 2014.
Sales leads at Nissan were headed by the all-new Rogue crossover, which saw 19,420 units sold for a 26.3 percent increase over March 2013. Close behind was the Sentra at 19,323 units, a whopping 38.4 percent increase over last year. The Altima had the largest sales figures at 35,921, but this was the first month it beat it's year-on-year record from the same month last year.
Rounding out the numbers were the Nissan LEAF at 2,507 units (up 12.1 percent), the Juke at 6,943 units (up 77.3 percent), and the crossovers, which cumulatively saw a 25 percent gain. The all-new 2015 Murano, set to unveil in New York later this month, will propel those going forward.
Over at the Infiniti brand, things are a little more storied. Because of name changes in the model lineup, comparisons don't match by name, but the overall picture is good with a 12.5 percent gain March-on-March. Total sales are up 14 percent overall for the year (2014 thus far versus 2013 at this point).
Most of those gains came from the Q50 and QX60, which sold 3,795 and 3.340 units respectively. The QX80 SUV saw sales of 1,241 units for March 2014. Losses in March 2013 vs 2014 sales were in the Q60, down by 44 percent, and the QX70, down by 14.3 percent. All other models saw gains. Crossovers and sport utilities gained 11.6 percent cumulatively.
So there you have it. Nissan's aggressive manufacturing and sales strategies are continuing to show growth going forward.
lol Tim. The numbers weren't
lol Tim. The numbers weren't included, they only included highlights for a few vehicles. It's very likely, by the way, that you'll see the new 2015 Titan at the New York show.
