Nissan has returned stellar sales reports for both December 2013 and for 2013 as a whole. Big winners in terms of sales increases are the LEAF and Pathfinder, both scoring in the triple digits.
Nissan set records in U.S. sales in 2013 with December sales of 109,758 units showing an increase of 10.5 percent over December 2012 and with 2013 sales beating 2012 sales as a whole by 9.4 percent, rising to 1,248,420 units for the year. That marks the best annual sales total in Nissan's history.
The big winners in Nissan's lineup were the Nissan LEAF, which saw a phenomenal increases year-on-year as well as its biggest sales month since entering the market in 2010 with December sales up 69.8 percent for a total of 2,529 units. Total sales increases year-on-year for 2013 over 2012 were 130.3 percent, making the LEAF the model with the biggest sales jump of the lineup.
Close behind, however, was the Nissan Pathfinder which also saw triple digit sales increases year-on-year. For 2013 over 2012, the Pathfinder saw a 108 percent increase in sales.
Although many Nissan models saw a percentage drop in sales versus last year, many others saw double-digit upticks as well. Notably the Sentra, Frontier, Rogue, and NV. Total Nissan sales for 2013 were 10.8 percent higher than 2012.
Infiniti saw an overall drop, slightly, with -2.9 percent lower sales under last year. Leading the drop was the G sedan, now replaced with the Q-series 50 and 60 offerings, as well as the M-line of vehicles. The QX60 saw a big jump, though, going up 45.8 percent over last year.
Together, the Nissan and Infiniti brands saw a total of 9.4 percent in sales increases year-on-year. For accounting, both 2012 and 2013 had 307 selling days to be recorded.
All together, these are a good sign that Nissan is moving forward with their continued plans for increasing market share across the board.
