The all-new Nissan Altima not only features an affordable starting MSRP, but also a laundry list of standard features.
The wait is finally over. Nissan has announced the pricing details for the highly anticipated, all-new 2013 Nissan Altima sedan, which just made its world debut at today’s New York International Auto Show. Now in its fifth generation, the 2013 model has undergone a complete redesign. Not only does the new Altima feature “class above” styling, but it also boasts a segment-leading fuel economy of 38 mpg.
"With a starting price of $21,500 USD, this new-generation design continues the exceptional combination of value and innovation that made Altima the second best-selling car in the U.S. in 2011," said Brian Carolin, senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. "With its evocative styling, sophisticated interior, rewarding driving experience, smartphone connectivity and available class-exclusive technologies, we expect an even stronger consumer response to the new Altima when it goes on sale this summer."
The latest Altima sedan is offered in seven distinct models engineered to appeal to a wide range of consumers. Buyers can purchase the 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL, all of which feature a 182-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cyldiner engine or the 3.5 S, 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL, which contain a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. Each Altima comes standard with the next-gen Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
Aside from standard equipment the Altima also offers the Nissan Navigation Package (SV models), which features a 7.0-inch color screen, steering wheel navigation controls and integrated turn-by-turn navigation. Also available is Nissan’s Technology Package (SL models), an option that includes the Nissan Navigation System, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Obstacle Detection and Lane Departure Warning. In the past, Nissan’s Technology Package was only available on more expensive models.
Design wise, the latest Altima contains a unique NASA-inspired “zero gravity” front seats. Nissan actually utilized NASA posture research to configure the Altima’s seating to mimic as close to a “neutral position” as possible. This relaxed position is reminiscent of the form the human body takes when in a weightless environment.
Perhaps most notable, is the 2013 Nissan Altima’s fuel economy. The new Altima touts a best-in-segment fuel economy of 38-mpg highway with its 2.5-liter engine. The Altima’s best-in-segment ranking does not include hybrid or diesel models.
