The 2016 Toyota 4Runner just bumped the last FCA-built vehicle off AutoPacific’s list of most satisfying vehicles.
AutoPacific’s 2016 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) list of winner differs this year from the past five consecutive years. In the prior five, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was the top vehicle in the midsize SUV category. The 2016 Toyota 4Runner earned that distinction this year in owner voting, ending the Jeep’s impressive half-decade of wins.
The AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction survey asks owners of vehicle detailed questions about all aspects of their satisfaction. What the company is really trying to uncover is overall ownership satisfaction. AutoPacific president George Peterson explains it this way, saying, “VSAs look at the big picture, which includes owners’ experiences with their vehicle’s quality and safety, but also goes deeper into the heart of the ownership experience.”
Toyota and Lexus won key segments this year. The Lexus RX took the award for most satisfying luxury crossover SUV. The more rugged, but similarly sized 4Runner also won as mentioned. Mr. Peterson explained the significance of the 4Runner’s award beyond just its individual accomplishment by saying, Peterson. “Historically, FCA has not been as strong; however, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was on a 5-year winning streak and had that taken away by the Toyota 4Runner this year.”
