Two million vehicles have the defect according to Toyota. That is about half the number of Toyota’s largest recall in 2009 for a floor mat refit (just one related to sudden acceleration). Although a huge number, it is much smaller than the approximately 31 million GM ignition switch-related recalls and 38 million vehicles affected by the Takata airbag issue that many manufacturers shared.
