Mazda’s personal touch is well-known. Here’s another example.
Here at Torque News we have a hard time keeping up with news of Mazda’s generosity. Whether it is a car donated for auction benefitting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Mazda’s out-sized donations to the Red Cross, little Mazda always steps up big and “in person.” The most recent story of Mazda doing right is about the company helping out a couple after their new 2016 MX-5 Miata was badly damaged by being rear-ended shortly after leaving the dealership.
Reports say that the 2016 Miata Launch Edition was rear-ended by a Ford F-150 that pushed it into the car in front of the Miata. The front, rear, and chassis suffered damage. It’s curtains for the car. The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries but are ok.
Mazda won’t have to pay for the 2016 Launch Edition Miata that was totaled in the wreck. The insurance will cover that. However, new Miatas are in high-demand right now, and the folks taking cars home this month ordered theirs in advance. Rather than tell the new owners to get back in line, Mazda and the local dealership found another identical 2016 Launch Edition for the couple. Their second new Miata will arrive around August 15th.
Buying a car is always stressful. Having an accident that totals a new car on the way home from the dealer is much worse than what most people deal with. Kudos to Mazda and its dealership for recognizing an opportunity to do more and for finding a car on such short notice.
