Mazda's compact hatchback and sedan, the Mazda3, earn a new reward from one of the top sellers of used cars in America.
The Mazda3 has earned a new reward. This time, the critics' favorite is being singled out as the best used car in its segment by CarGurus, a leading online automotive website. The group has singled out the Mazda3 from years 2014 through 2018 as being a great buy.

"CarGurus knows that research is the bedrock of a great car-buying experience and we hope that our third annual Best Used Car Awards help today's car shoppers in that process," said Matt Smith, Senior Editor at CarGurus. "These award-winning vehicles are popular, plentiful, well-reviewed and—based on our projections—should retain their value for years to come. For people shopping for a great used car, these vehicles are certainly worth considering."
CarGurus says its CarGurus Used Car Awards nominees were selected from late-model cars that were for sale in the United States. Vehicle generations that include the 2015 model year were a main focus. Vehicles nominated were evaluated based on CarGurus reviews, owner reviews, popularity, availability, and CarGurus' projected 12-year resale value. The model with the highest combined score was chosen as the winner for each category.
“Shoppers who love to drive owe it to themselves to test-drive a pre-owned Mazda3” said Matt Smith. “Few vehicles deliver the same level of driving enjoyment, and even fewer do so while offering shoppers the choice between sedan and hatchback body styles. Add in the Mazda3’s impressive value retention, and this sporty compact is a great choice for many shoppers.”
Mazda commented on the win, saying, “Our cars are designed to enhance people’s lives and be an extension of their person,” said Jeff Guyton, President of Mazda North American Operations. “We are thrilled to be honored with this award which recognizes Mazda’s dedication to craftsmanship and ensures that our vehicles will delight for years after purchase.”
