The newly designed Toyota Camry design is now put to use on Toyota's NASCAR race car.
Toyota has updated the racing Camry that teams run in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) to reflect the new 2015 design. The new Camry race car will enter competition next season and run in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, currently called the Nationwide Series. The car is amazingly similar looking to the new Camry family-car design launched this week by Toyota.
New Camry NASCAR Race Car
In 2012 for the 2013 race year, NASCAR moved to a new race car platform called Gen-6. Toyota is the first of the manufacturers to update this now 2-year old platform. Ed Laukes, TMS vice president of marketing, performance and guest experience commented on this saying, “We’re thrilled to finally be able to show off our new 2015 Camry race car -- becoming the first manufacturer to update the ‘Gen-6’ model that was introduced before the start of the 2013 season.”
The new 2015 Toyota Camry race car has a new front end. The grill and bumper look almost exactly like the new Camry that has just gone on sale this week. The car has a longer sleeker look and departs from the production Camry look in that it has the appearance of a coupe. The rear quarter windows are a part of this eye-catching design treatment. The tail is also redesigned and is the area that the racer has the hardest time mimicking the look of the street car.
About the 2015 Toyota Camry
For 2015 the Camry design changes quite a bit. Every body-panel has been changed except the roof, and the car is now wider. The new look brings the Camry into the new design language that Toyota has used successfully on the Avalon and Corolla. Sales of both models went up after they adopted the new look. Drivetrains for the new Camry carry over, but the interior is all new. There is also a new XSE trim level that breeds the top luxury XLE trim with the popular sportier looking SE trim.
