The Camry's ongoing sales success justifies an unbelievable investment by Toyota in Kentucky.
Toyota is betting its Camry sedan's success will continue through the next decade. Although Toyota's RAV4 and Highlander crossovers have seen tremendous sales success and growth, the Camry remains Toyota's top-selling vehicle in America. In order to keep the Camry ahead of its peers, Toyota is investing $1.33 billion in its Kentucky manufacturing operations to support the 15-year best-seller.
A New Way To Build The Most American Made Car
The Kentucky plant, called Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK), is an engine and assembly plant for Toyota. This will be the first location for the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), an entirely new strategy by Toyota in the way the company designs, engineers, and builds its vehicles. Toyota says that the investment will be spent on makeovers that will modernize and streamline the production process.
