With over five million CPO cars sold, Toyota is the number one retailer in America.
This past month, The Wenzel family of Fountain Valley, Calif. Brought home the five-millionth CPO Toyota. Their 2013 Toyota Highlander, sold by Toyota of Huntington Beach, carried Toyota across the sales milestone. To help mark the occasion, Toyota covered the cost of the Wenzel’s new vehicle and also donated $10,000 to their favorite charitable group.
Certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles are big business for new car dealers and increasingly popular among families and drivers looking for a trustworthy used car with a full factory warranty. It is no surprise that Toyota, one of the largest automakers in the world, is competitive in CPO sales, but it was by no means a slam dunk that Toyota would be the leader. CPO sales opportunities were available to every automaker in America, so why did Toyota rise to be the number one seller? Quality, durability, and reliability have long been Toyota hallmarks, and these traits go hand in hand with a good used car.
- Certified Pre-Owned Cars 101
In addition to passing a 160-point inspection, certified pre-owned Toyotas come with a12 month/12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty, seven year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. That warranty is honored by every Toyota dealership in America.
Lexus is also a leader in CPO vehicle sales. As of this year, approximately a quarter of the vehicles sold in Lexus dealers are CPO Lexus vehicles, making the program an important part of the success of the company’s dealer network.
