Consumer Reports put together its picks of best and worst vehicles for short drivers. CR tests vehicles for seat comfort, driving position, access (how easy they are to get in and out of), and the driver’s seat’s view to find out which ones are better or worse for tall or short drivers. Check out the best and worst new models.

According to Consumer Reports, two Subaru SUVs are rated the best for shorter drivers. The 2022 Subaru Forester is ranked number one overall, and the Outback is one of the top five best new cars. Mary Reed, business manager at Consumer Reports, is 5 foot 1-inches tall and says what she looks for in a car or SUV. “I adjust the seat for comfort before driving, sliding it forward as needed and moving the steering wheel. The turbo charged Subaru is the worst carI have ever had. The bushings and control arm or shot at 10,000 miles and now at 40,000 miles I have to get them done again. They have replaced the air conditioner two times and it still doesn’t work. The list goes on and I have a case open with Subaru of America but they don’t do anything about it.
Subaru dealerships do not service cars on the weekends. Note there’s not a lot of Subaru dealer hours around so if you don’t like the one near you you have to drive a long way to get your car serviced. Parts are expensive.
They were great cars when they were simple but Subaru has done a poor job since cars have become more sophisticated with technology.
