Which new cars, SUVs, and trucks are the most shopped by consumers this year? Ford, Honda, Chevy, and Toyota take the top four spots, but the 2021 Subaru Forester and 2022 Subaru Outback take the fifth and sixth spots on Kelly Blue Book’s 10 Most-Considered Models list for 2021.
KBB’s ten most-considered new vehicles
The Ford F-150 is number one, followed by the Honda CR-V, Chevy Silverado, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, Toyota Tacoma, Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty, Honda Accord, and number ten is the Kia Telluride.
It’s not a surprise because Subaru retailers can’t keep the Forester compact SUV and Outback midsize SUV/crossover on their lots. Subaru Report visited a large Subaru retailer near Denver, Colorado, and they only had one of each model available for sale this week.
We saw two new 2021 Subaru Forester models and only one 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness on the lot. But all three were already pre-sold with “SOLD” stickers in the front windshields.
The global microchip shortage and Subaru plant shutdowns have created limited supplies and no inventory of some new models. The Forester and Outback have been the hardest to find Subaru models across the U.S., and few are available.
The 2021 Subaru Forester production has stopped as Subaru Corporation makes the switch to the refreshed 2022 Forester. There are a few still in the pipeline, but most are already pre-sold to customers. According to our sources close to Subaru, the new 2022 Forester models likely won’t arrive until January.
Customers can order new 2022 Subaru Forester and 2022 Outback models and wait for Subaru to ship the model to the retailer.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Forester?
For the 2022 model change Forester comes in six trim levels; The base Forester starts at $26,320, Premium ($29,320), Sport ($30,890), Limited ($33,000), new Wilderness ($33,945), and Touring ($36,420). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,125).
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback?
The 2022 Outback comes in eight trim levels; the base trim is priced from $27,845, Premium ($30,270), Limited ($34,720), Touring ($38,620), Onyx Edition XT ($36,270), new for 2022, Outback Wilderness ($38,120), Limited XT ($39,120), and Touring XT ($41,070). Pricing includes $1,125 destination and delivery fees.
The 2022 Subaru Outback and 2021 Subaru Forester are one of the top-ten most-considered new models. What does it mean for customers? The popular all-wheel-drive models will be hard to find this fall and winter.
