Subaru made minimal changes to the 2023 models, and Consumer Reports says the 2023 models have a perfect 5/5 overall predicted reliability score.
CR says, "We expect the Subaru Crosstrek will be more reliable than the average new car." This prediction is based on data from 2020, 2021, and 2022 models that have had few problems.
Consumer Reports says the Crosstrek's strengths are: A well-cushioned ride, short stopping distances, simple controls, and fuel economy. They say the Crosstrek is the number one of fifteen subcompact SUVs overall in its scores.

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek now comes in six trim levels for U.S. customers. The base trim is priced from $24,870, Premium ($26,020), Special Edition ($27,970), Sport ($29,220), Limited ($30,720), and Crosstrek Hybrid ($38.070). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,225).
What is the Crosstrek fuel mileage?
You don't have to buy the Hybrid to get good fuel efficiency. The Subaru Crosstrek uses direct injection on its new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine and gets 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg.
The 2.0-liter engine gets 28/33 city/highway mpg and 30 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic, contributing to better mileage. Subaru increased fuel mileage in the new 2023 Crosstrek using a four-cylinder Boxer engine with direct-injection technology.
What is new for 2023? The 2023 Crosstrek Special Edition
There are no upgrades for the 2023 model change except for the new Crosstrek Special Edition (SE) trim level. The new SE model features an "overland-inspired" Desert Khaki exterior color not offered on any other trim level.
