Why are Subaru models ranked high in all-wheel-drive capability?
If you live in a cold-weather climate, you want a capable all-wheel-drive car to get you safely through snow and icy conditions on your commute. Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system is considered one of the best among automakers.
Subaru was the first and is still the only automaker to offer all-wheel-drive standard equipment on its cars and SUVs. The 2022 Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent, Impreza, Legacy, WRX, WRX STI all come standard with the automaker's all-wheel-drive system. The BRZ sports coupe is the only model with a two-wheel rear-drive configuration.
Subaru offers X-Mode on its SUVs
Subaru also offers X-Mode on its all-wheel-drive SUVs. The 2022 Subaru Outback and 2022 Subaru Forester come equipped with X-Mode for severe winter driving conditions and with SI-DRIVE that allows the driver to dial-up engine efficiency or performance with Intelligent and Sport modes. The Outback XT, Outback Wilderness, and Forester Sport and Forester Wilderness offer a dual-function X-Mode for even more extreme winter driving conditions.
Subaru does not offer a one type fits all all-wheel-drive system. You can read the complete report here.
What iSeeCars says about Subaru All-Wheel-Drive
"Subaru's Symmetrical AWD system has been around for over forty years. With the absence of the extra drive shaft of front-wheel-drive-based or rear-wheel-drive-based all-wheel-drive systems, the Symmetrical system disperses energy more efficiently. This creates better handling, acceleration, and control. The Subaru system provides power to the wheels using fewer components while offering excellent distribution of that power. This leads to better balance, quicker response to traction loss, and more dynamic acceleration, all in a more efficient manner," says iSeeCars.
Subaru created the small SUV all-wheel-drive segment, and the Japanese automaker is recognized for its excellent Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. This winter, the 2022 Subaru Outback, 2022 Forester, Impreza, and Legacy are the highest-ranked all-wheel-drive for car and SUV shoppers by iSeeCars.
