The new 2015 Outback will keep you safe on and off-road. The new wagon achieves two new important global safety awards.
The all-newly designed 2015 Subaru Outback was upgraded with two new advancements that help it achieve two of the globes highest safety awards. One of Subaru’s core values is safety, and the brand has achieved more global safety awards, this time for the all-new Outback wagon. One comes from NCAP in Europe, the other from JNCAP in Japan.
The first award comes from Europe
The Outback wagon was completely redesigned for the 2015 model year and it’s even safer than the outgoing model. The European spec 2.0D Outback equipped with EyeSight achieved Euro NCAP’s highest five-star rating for its overall safety performance. The new Outback scored highly in all four key areas of adult occupant protection (85%), child occupant protection (87%), pedestrian protection (70%) and safety assist, as well as achieving maximum points in the side impact barrier test, with good protection of all critical body areas.

Second award in Japan
In Japan, EyeSight equipped Outback also earned the top safety award from JNCAP with the highest possible marks in the preventive safety performance assessment administered by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the National Agency for Automotive Safety & Victims' Aid (NASVA). The maximum number of rating points is 40, with points awarded for efficacy in reducing accidents resulting in death or serious injury. Any vehicle earning two points or more is designated as an Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV), and a vehicle earning 12 points or more is designated as an Advanced Safety Vehicle-Plus (ASV+). The new Outback won ASV+ designations with the maximum rating of 40 points.
Two new Outback advancements
The new Subaru Outback gets a number of key safety features like multiple airbags in the front, knee, side, curtain airbags and the optional new-generation EyeSight safety system. Subaru also upgraded all 2015 Outbacks with new body structure benefits with further advancements in Subaru’s “ring-shaped reinforcement frame body” while the use of high tensile steel plates has also been increased. These new advancements helped the Outback get the highest possible safety scores possible form Euro NCAP and JNCAP.
Fuji Heavy Industries Inc., has safety at the center of their design philosophy and every Subaru vehicle gets this as a core value before it ever reaches production. Subaru pursues all-around safety by advancing its active, passive and pre-crash safety technologies. The two new 2015 Subaru Outback safety awards are the latest example of this core value for the brand.
