How American is the 2023 Subaru Outback? Out of 95 models listed by cars.com made at a U.S. assembly plant, the list has the 2022 Subaru Outback midsize SUV ranked at number 75. The Outback is manufactured at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) plant and has around 45 percent U.S. content. 

How does the 2022 Subaru Outback rank with the most affordable American-made cars under $30,000? Cars.com says the Outback midsize SUV is ranked number seventeen overall. The 2022 Subaru Legacy is ranked eighteenth, and the 2022 Subaru Impreza is nineteenth overall. The 2022 Subaru Ascent is ranked the twenty-seventh most affordable American-made 3-Row SUV in the 2022 rankings.

The 2022 Subaru Outback is Subaru of America’s number one selling SUV because it comes standard with all-wheel-drive, gets top safety scores, has good fuel mileage and is one of the most affordable midsize SUVs under $30,000.



What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback?

The 2022 Outback comes in eight trim levels; the base trim is priced from $28,820, Premium ($31,020), Limited ($35,470), Touring ($39,370), Onyx Edition XT ($37,020), new for 2022, Outback Wilderness ($38,870), Limited XT ($39,870), and Touring XT ($41,820). Pricing includes $1,175 destination and delivery fees.

The domestic content would be higher, but all four U.S.-made Subaru models made at SIA import their major drivetrain parts, engine, and transmissions from Japan. The Subaru Outback, Impreza, and Legacy all have 40 percent of their parts shipped from Japan. The Ascent 3-Row family hauler has 30 percent of its parts coming from Japan. 

The 2022 Subaru Outback is a good pick for SUV shoppers because of its affordability, it comes standard with all-wheel-drive, gets the top safety scores from the IIHS, has good fuel mileage, and is the 17th most American-made car under $30,000.
