The first all-new 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class models have arrived at showrooms and they come with a host of accessories and a sport appearance package.
The new 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class luxury compact made its production debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and was a big hit with consumers. The first A-Class models have just arrived in showrooms in Europe and they come with a whole host of options and accessories for buyers to choose from. The A-Class was already a hit in Europe before the first model even arrived in dealers showrooms. Since the start of sales in mid-June, more than 40.000 customers had already ordered the attractive A-Class before the first car was produced.
And while we won’t see the new luxury compact here until sometime in 2014, the German automaker's goal here in the U.S. is to hook a new, younger set of Mercedes-Benz loyalists with the all-new A-Class. Mercedes is giving buyers a whole range of accessories for the new luxury compact and that will make it even more attractive to young consumers.
A-Class range: extensive features and options
The base A-Class comes well appointed with features like air conditioning, Audio 5 USB, power windows, Headlamp Assist and 12-button multifunction steering wheel. But Mercedes has included optional features that are often found in more expensive models. Those include the Intelligent Light System, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function or dashboard finished in Artico man-made leather.
The new A-Class also offers a new accessory range in the area of infotainment. The Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone provides access to the Digital Drive Style app, developed in-house by Daimler. Features include the advanced navigation solution from Garmin, with internet-based, real-time traffic information, online POI searches including Street View and 3D map display. Other functions include Facebook, Twitter and AUPEO! Personal Radio in Europe.
A new MercedesSport appearance package
The sporty appearance of the new A-Class can be enhanced even further with the addition of the new sport accessory package. The MercedesSport range adds, a spoiler lip for the front apron, a high-gloss black radiator grille, high-gloss black exterior mirror housings and waistline trim strips, a roof spoiler and diffuser-look rear apron trim. In addition, a variety of light-alloy wheels are available for the A-Class. All A-Class models come with sports seats in the front with integrated head restraints and contrasting stitching.
The European models come in a wide range of gasoline and diesel engine options. Here in the U.S., we will probably see the sporty A-Class being powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection gas engine producing 211 horsepower. It will be coupled to either a new six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The highly accessorized A-Class should be as popular here in North America as it is in Europe. Look for the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class luxury compact to arrive here sometime in 2014.
