In it’s second year
BMW is pleased with the launch of the new i3 as global deliveries of the new all-electric car total 16,052 in 2014. BMW says nearly three-quarters of those sales occurred in the second half of the year, following the vehicle’s late-spring market launch in several major markets including the U.S.
i3 uses carbon fiber
The all-electric i3 and i8 both use extensive quantities of carbon fiber in series production. The BMW i3 is the first mass-production vehicle made with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). The lighter than steel material is strong and is what helps extend driving range of the new i3 all-electric.
Sales have been brisk for the two i models and BMW has ramped up production. The BMW plant is rolling out more than 100 BMW i3’s each day. BMW hopes to capture the attention of Super Bowl XLIX fans this year and spread the word about the new all-electric i3. The new i3 ad will be shown during the first quarter of this year’s Super Bowl that will be played in AZ. Stay tuned.
Amazing they are increasing
Amazing they are increasing prices with a collapsing dollar, and with massive discounts on existing stock. Maybe if you include the now standard features it really isn't a price increase....but it won't impact what people are paying for the car, which is a lot lower than msrp.
