The all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets a new sporty suspension and the world’s first air suspension in the luxury mid-range class.
Mercedes-Benz just keeps setting new standards in their automobiles and the new 2015 C-Class is a good example of the German automakers innovations. It’s the first car in the premium mid-range class to get an optional air suspension. The new optionally air-sprung suspension gives the new C-Class a ride like no other in this luxury segment.
Mercedes keeps rolling out new updated products and the new “baby Benz” C-Class is being upgraded with new technology and two new engines that will make the C-Class up to 20 percent more fuel-efficient. C-Class is the best-selling model overall for the brand and the 2015 should keep it rolling. The new car will launch next year and will be the sweetest riding C-Class ever.
The new suspension updates will be more upscale and have more driving comfort than any previous generation C-Class has ever offered. "Mercedes at its best - that's the new C-Class, which sets new standards for the mid-range segment on many fronts," says Prof. Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.
A new sporty yet comfortable suspension
The development of the new C-Class suspension is totally new and was designed to be not only comfortable, but it’s designed to be sporty and agile. The new C-Class will be the closest thing to a sports saloon that they’ve ever produced. C-Class gets lighter and lost up to 220 lbs and gets more nimble than it’s ever been before.
How did Mercedes do it?
The new C-Class gets a standard steel suspension that provides a sportier ride. It comes standard with a new independent front suspension with 4-link front axle that is fully decoupled from the spring strut. This allows for more grip and higher lateral stability especially in the corners. The suspension responds “more sensitively” to steering inputs by the driver and allows sporty, agile driving dynamics. In the rear, the new saloon gets a multi-link independent rear setup with a 5-link concept for better straightline stability at high speeds. For even more of a sports sedan feel, Mercedes offers a sports suspension that’s lowered by .6 inches as part of the optional Sport Package.
First air suspension in this category
For those wanting the most comfortable ride in the segment, Mercedes offers for the first time an air suspension (AIRMATIC) on the front and rear axles. The new air suspension features electronically controlled, continuous variable damping at the front and rear. This takes most of the road vibrations and transfers them into the new suspension.
The driver can select the AGILITY SELECT switch to choose between "Comfort", "ECO", "Sport" and "Sport+." This allows the driver to configure the C-Class according to their own driving preferences. AIRMATIC also features and “all-round” self-leveling for optimum ride comfort even when the vehicle is loaded.
Mercedes-Benz has a slogan of ‘The best or nothing' and it looks like they’ve come up with a new C-Class that is the best model yet. It may be the closest thing to a sports sedan without actually being one. Look for the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class to launch next year.
