JRM’s 2016 Subaru WRX STI NR4 has been in the news a lot lately after winning the production category at Wales Rally GB. Now, the WRX STI wins its Middle east debut. Rashid Al Naimi won the production class and finished third overall at the opening round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship.
The 2016 Subaru WRX STI rally car built by JRM is already taking the Middle East desert by storm this season. We’ve written much about the new Subaru WRX STI NR4 spec rally car and it's getting more attention now from global race teams. It’s going to be a big deal in the 2016 FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC). JRM who builds the newest rally STI for race teams around the globe, sold two of these rally-ready cars to the Qatar Rally Team.
Subaru WRX STI NR4 wins
The Qatar Rally Team won big with the WRX STI NR4 at the Qatar International Rally. Al Naimi (pictured above) didn’t waste any time and pushed the new machine hard and set the production pace throughout the rally. The STIs scored nine of the fastest times at the 13-stage event and Al Naimi took an impressive 43.6 second victory in the production class.
STI stands up in the desert environment
Qatar Rally Team boss Ken Skidmore says the WRX STIs stood up well in the harsh desert environment. Skidmore says, “I’m extremely happy with the result because the cars stood up very well to the demanding roads in the Qatar desert and they showed excellent speed and strength.” Even though Rashid’s STI had a punctured tire on the first day, the car’s performance allowed him to recover and take a dominant Gp N win.
WRX STI offers big advantages
The WRX STI NR4 spec cars are showing their superiority in the production class around the globe. JRM’s Head of Motorsport Sales, Graham Prew says, “The results in Wales and Qatar show that our latest-specification 2016 Subaru WRX STI NR4 offers big advantages over other production rally cars. Technically, it’s more up to date than any of its rivals and that gives the driver the confidence to push hard on the stages.”
