The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek scores high in a number of areas. See if it’s a model you can live with.
A concern for car shoppers is a new model’s reliability. You want to have fun in your new car, not spending money and time having your car in the shop getting fixed. You want a car that will cost you the least amount of money after paying for gas and regular maintenance. There are many good subcompact SUVs available for shoppers but which ones are the best?
Consumer Reports rates all subcompact models and says the new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek scores a 5/5 for predicted reliability. So you shouldn’t be spending extra on unscheduled repairs. It gets 82 percent in predicted reliability and compared with other models it’s one of the best. The Mazda CX-3 gets a higher score of 89 percent and the Honda HR-V comes in at 69 percent.
The Subaru Crosstrek received a complete remodel in the 2018 model year and now in its third year, most of the bugs are already worked out. CR gives the 2020 Crosstrek an overall grade of 85 with the Hyundai Kona, and Nissan Rogue Sport tying for second with a score of 78 points.
When it comes to owner satisfaction, Consumer Reports gives Crosstrek a predicted overall owner satisfaction rating of 4/5. Survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. CR asks current owners, ”Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?"
77 percent of Subaru Crosstrek owners said they would buy the car again. Only 52 percent of Honda HR-V owners said yes, and only 48 percent of Mazda CX-3 owners would buy it again. According to results from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), the Subaru brand and Crosstrek subcompact SUV also receives high marks in its 2019 Customer Satisfaction Survey.
Owners seem to like the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek’s standard all-wheel-drive, its all-weather go-anywhere capability, multi-purpose utility, fuel mileage, and it’s high on the fun-to-drive meter. Some owners have complained about the Crosstrek’s lack of power and Subaru is bringing a new 2021 Crosstrek Sport with a bigger 2.5-liter engine. If you can wait, it could be the perfect subcompact.
