Subaru of America announced pricing and details on the 2021 Subaru Outback wagon. This is the second year after the wagon received a complete remodel and it gets a small price increase and a few new features for the model change. For 2021, all Outback trims now come standard with steering responsive LED headlights, passenger seat belt reminder as well as a rear-seat reminder.
The curve-adaptive LED headlights were previously only available on Limited and Touring trims. This will improve safety ratings on lower trims with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The 2021 Outback comes in seven trim levels, base ($27,845 +$150), Premium ($30,095 +$150), Onyx Edition XT ($36,195 +$250), Limited ($34,645 +$150), Limited XT ($39,045 +$250), Touring ($38,545 +$150), and Touring XT ($40,995 +$250). Pricing includes $1,050 destination (+$40.)
All 2021 Outback trims come standard with all-wheel-drive, X-Mode with hill-descent control, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, and EyeSight driver assist safety technology with advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering.
The base trim comes with a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, Starlink dual 7.0-inch Multimedia system with an upper 7-inch touchscreen with audio controls, and a lower 7-inch screen that accesses the climate control system and controls for EyeSight, X-Mode, and other vehicle systems. The multimedia system offers AM/FM/HD radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth.
The Premium trim adds heated seats and mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, 11.6-inch Starlink multimedia plus, 10-way power driver seat, and two USB charging ports in the rear section of the center console.
The Outback Onyx Edition XT comes the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, hands-free power rear gate, 180-degree front view monitor, dual-mode X-Mode, and a full-size spare tire. Onyx Edition XT also comes with black-finish exterior elements, 18-inch alloy wheels and badging, as well as a gray two-tone interior with water-repellent StarTex upholstery.
Limited trim adds leather seats, heated rear seatbacks, rear A/C outlets; and keyless access with push-button start. Added safety features include reverse automatic braking and blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
Limited XT gets the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, and upgrades including a power moonroof, heated steering wheel, 11.6-inch multimedia navigation, Harman Kardon premium audio with surround sound, and DriverFocus distraction mitigation system.
Touring adds 180-degree front view monitor, automatic power-folding mirrors, and ventilated seats. The Touring gets unique exterior and interior accents and Java Brown Nappa leather upholstery. The Outback Touring XT comes with all the standard equipment of the Touring and adds the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine.
Also new for the 2021 model change is a new exterior color, Brilliant Bronze Metallic. It’s available starting with the Premium trim level. The 2021 Subaru Outback will begin arriving at retailers in October.
