Should you buy the 2024 Subaru Forester? There is good and bad news. The good news is the Forester is an excellent value for compact SUV shoppers. The bad news is the 2024 Forester is identical to the 2023 Forester, and the exact 2024 Forester will cost you more than the 2023 models.
What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Forester?
All 2024 Forester trim levels increased by $770 in price, including destination and delivery. The Forester comes in six trim levels; The Base Forester starts at $28,190, Premium ($31,390), Sport ($32,960), Limited ($35,070), Wilderness ($36,015), and Touring ($38,490). Pricing includes destination and dealer fees ($1,295).

The 2024 Forester and Forester Wilderness are carry-over models and remain unchanged with no new upgrades. Subaru has delayed the launch of the next-generation Forester for another year.

All 2024 Forester trims come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The Forester compact SUV comes with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, X-Mode with hill-descent control, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and the next-generation EyeSight driver-assist safety technology.
2024 Subaru Forester trim levels
The 2024 Forester base trim features a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, hands-free phone and audio streaming connectivity, SiriusXM, and a CD player. The base also has dual USB ports in the front center console, a multi-function display, remote keyless entry, and a combination meter with color LCD.

Forester Premium
The Premium has enhanced roof rails and added tie-down points for improved versatility. The Premium trim has steering responsive LED headlights, keyless access with push-button start, fog lights, heated seats, and mirrors, a leather steering wheel, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
Premium also comes with a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels in black with machine finish, roof rails, dark tint privacy glass, and a panoramic power moonroof.
Forester Sport
The Forester Sport adds exterior and interior treatments. Outside, it gets black-finish 18-inch wheels and a black rear roof spoiler, and orange accents. Inside, the Sport features a dark gray material with orange stitching and accents. The Sport also features dual-function X-Mode for increased capability off-road and in extreme weather conditions.
The Sport also has blind-spot detection, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Forester Limited
The Limited trim adds leather seats, a leather steering wheel, a power rear tailgate with auto close and height memory, dual USB ports, and voice-activated climate control. Outside, it comes with 18-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels, exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals, and chrome accent trim for the fog lights. The Limited has a 7-speed manual mode for the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission.
Outside, the Limited comes with machine-finished black 18-inch wheels, chrome door handles, folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, and LED fog lights with chrome trim. It also features silver metallic finish mounts on the roof rails and a silver finish on the front, rear, side valences, and chrome badges.

Forester Wilderness
Forester Wilderness is designed for customers who want to get further off the grid. It offers 9.2-inches of ground clearance, longer coil springs and shock absorbers, Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, a full-size spare tire, more prominent wheel cladding, and ladder-type roof rails that can support up to 800 lb. for using a rooftop tent. The Wilderness trim has water-resistant StarTex seating surfaces, all-weather mats, and a cargo tray for carrying outdoor gear.

Forester Touring
The top-of-the-line Touring trim offers a gesture climate control capability, allowing the driver to raise and lower the automatic climate control system's temperature through hand gestures. 2024 Touring trims add gloss black trim on the B- and C-pillars for a Premium appearance.
Forester Touring features black or saddle brown leather upholstery, a 10-way power driver's seat with 2-position memory, an 8-way power front passenger seat, and heated rear seats. The cargo area has LED lights in the tailgate and dome lights with an off-delay.
Safety technology
The EyeSight driver assist technology is upgraded on the Premium trim with the option package and all higher trim levels. The next-generation EyeSight includes automatic emergency steering. Subaru says the feature works with pre-collision braking to assist with steering control to help avoid a collision at speeds less than 50 mph.
How much will the 2024 Subaru Forester tow?
All 2024 Forester trims offer 1,500 towing capacity and feature standard trailer stability assist. Forester Wilderness comes with up to 3,000 lb. towing capacity allowing active customers to pull a small boat or camper.
Which Forester trim level is the best pick for you?
The 2024 Subaru Premium trim is the best value for the price. The Premium is a capable all-weather vehicle for anyone encountering mild to severe winter weather. The Premium trim is a good pick if you use the compact SUV for commuting and occasional off-road use.
For $1,570 more, the 2024 Subaru Forester Sport offers active customers comfort and features for commuting during the week and off-road weekend use. The dual-function X-Mode can be used off-pavement for those who want to get further off the grid and for more severe winter weather conditions.
The Sports dual-function X-Mode offers the added Deep Snow/Deep Mud setting. If you are going deeper off-road, the Sport trim is the best model. You can opt for the rugged 2024 Forester Wilderness if you are a serious off-roader.
Subaru of America says all 2024 Subaru Forester compact SUV trim levels will begin arriving in U.S. retailer showrooms this fall. It's important to note that the Forester will remain a harder-to-find model.
