The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek pricing and upgrades have just been announced. The Crosstrek gets a new 2.5-liter Boxer engine trim level with upgrades and price increases across most trims except one. See what's new here.

In this report, I will cover the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek pricing, a new 2.5-liter Boxer engine trim level, and other upgrades.

Subaru of America (SOA) announced pricing and upgrades for the 2025 Crosstrek subcompact SUV. It's the top-selling SOA model, and the small SUV will likely keep its high position with the 2025 model change upgrades.

Subaru of America says, "The third-generation Subaru Crosstrek has been a hit thanks to generous standard and available features on all trim levels, pairing go-anywhere capability with exceptional value."

I will explain the most significant improvement, but first, here is the new 2025 Crosstrek pricing across all trims.

Despite the price increases in the new 2025 model year, the Crosstrek Base and Premium trims remain affordable, both available for under $30,000. The new Crosstrek pricing I've included below includes destination and delivery fees ($1,420).

Crosstrek comes in five trim levels.

  • Base - $27,115
  • Premium - $28,365
  • Sport - $30,915
  • Limited - $32,815
  • Wilderness - $33,915

How much did the 2025 Crosstrek pricing increase?

  • Base - +$575
  • Premium +$280
  • Sport - (-$20)
  • Limited +$375
  • Wilderness +$375

Destination and delivery fees increased by $75.

Nothing ever drops in price, but the 2025 Crosstrek Sport trim decreases in price by $20. It's not much, but every little bit counts.

The Crosstrek is in year two of next-generation model change, and typically, the year after a remodel, there are no upgrades. But Subaru Corp. is not standing pat with the Crosstrek.

The Crosstrek Premium gets two new upgrades.

SOA announced that the Crosstrek Premium trim level gets significant upgrades for the 2025 model year.

Subaru says, "This year, the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek Premium adds a more potent 2.5-liter, 182-horsepower Boxer engine and dual-function X-Mode with Hill Descent Control."

This 2.5-liter engine upgrade significantly enhances the Crosstrek Premium's performance, making it a more compelling choice for potential buyers.

The 2024 Crosstrek Premium had the 2.0-liter Boxer engine producing 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. In comparison, the 2025 Premium trim now comes with 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, a significant improvement that justifies the small price increase.

The Premium trim won't be the forgotten model now.

Premium gets another upgrade with dual-function X-Mode. The Premium's new dual-function X-Mode tech includes selectable Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings to optimize all-wheel drive performance in difficult weather or adverse road conditions. For the 2024 model year, Crosstrek Premium had the standard X-Mode system but not dual-function X-Mode.

Will anyone buy the Base trim?

I'm surprised Subaru Corporation kept the Base trim level in the lineup with the Premium now coming with the 2.5-liter Boxer engine. I can't imagine anyone buying the lesser Crosstrek Base that comes with few upgrades customers want.

Should customers buy a Base trim?

I wrote recently that the Crosstrek Base trim fails to meet customers' high standards for this subcompact SUV. Twenty-three features are missing on the Base, which you'll find on other trims. The extensive list is the same for the 2025 model year, so my report still applies. You can read the full details in my report here for more information on why you want to avoid the Base trim.

The Crosstrek Premium is now one of the best values for small SUV shoppers.

Crosstrek Premium sales could shoot up as long as customers can get one. The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek and Crosstrek Premium are produced in Gunma, Japan, while Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels are manufactured at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. The 2025 Sport, Limited, and Wilderness will remain the easiest for customers to find.

Crosstrek keeps trekking.

All 2025 Subaru Crosstrek trims are equipped with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel drive and at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance, more than many full-size SUVs. Standard on all trim levels is a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission) "with smoother and quieter performance," says Subaru.

Every 2025 Subaru Crosstrek has the latest version of the automaker's EyeSight driver assist technology. Automatic Emergency Steering is included on models equipped with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (a $1,920 option package that includes a power driver's seat and power moonroof).

The safety feature works with EyeSight and Blind-Spot Detection to assist with steering control within the lane of travel to help avoid forward crashes at speeds slower than 50 mph.

The 2025 Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trims remain unchanged for the new model change.

Conclusion:

With the price increases in the new 2025 model year, Crosstrek Base and Premium trims can still be purchased for under $30,000. With the Premium receiving significant engine and performance upgrades, it now offers the best value for potential buyers.

I expect the 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness will remain one of the most popular small SUVs for active customers. Check out my report here for additional information on Crosstrek Wilderness and its features.

When will the 2025 Crosstrek be available to customers? All new Crosstrek models will begin arriving at U.S. Subaru retailers later this year.
