Newsweek just announced the refreshed 2021 Subaru Crosstrek earned its Best Small SUV award. Check out why the Crosstrek is the best in its segment.
Newsweek just announced the best cars, SUVs, and trucks of 2021 and chose the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek as the Best Small SUV. They selected the Crosstrek for its performance, handling, braking, technology, cargo area, seating, interior appointments, and pricing. Newsweek says the Crosstrek lives up to the expectations of its target customer, 25 to 35-year-old active customers.
Models were picked by 25 percent of their total rating determined by the test drive score and 75 percent by features and specifications. Why is the Subaru Crosstrek the best small SUV pick?

A new 2.5-liter engine with 30 additional horsepower
The 2020 Crosstrek was criticized for its lack of power, and Subaru answered with the 2021 Crosstrek upgrading with a new Sport trim and the Limited with a 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The Sport trim is the hottest selling trim level in the lineup.
A functional and comfortable cabin
Newsweek gives four other reasons why they chose the Crosstrek as the best small SUV. “The interior of the Crosstrek is lifestyle-friendly with plenty of room for taller adults in the back seat and gobs of cargo space. Its seats are comfortable, and center console controls are easy to work on the go.”
More Crosstrek features
The 2021 Crosstrek hits the sweet spot with active customers with its standard all-wheel-drive, hatchback utility, off-road ability, top safety scores, and excellent fuel mileage. Outdoor enthusiasts like its X-Mode in standard trims and dual-function X-Mode in the Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims, offering unique settings for improved off-road ability.
The Crosstrek also offers a younger demographic a subcompact SUV with a taller ride height (8.7-inches of ground clearance), making it ideal for getting through deep snow on the way to the ski slopes this winter.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for customers. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,050).
Before the 2022 models arrive, the outgoing 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is rated the best Small SUV by Newsweek.
