Recent reports reveal that demand for used cars pushes prices up with the shortage of new vehicles. According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, the average cost of a used car jumped 12.5 percent over the past year, from $21,020 to $23,643.
If you cannot buy a new model now, which is the best year if you shop for a previously owned Subaru Impreza? Consumer Reports (by subscription) ranked the seven best, used cars and SUVs for city driving, and the 2016 Subaru Impreza is one of the best used car buys right now.
The cars and SUVs CR picked had to check the right boxes. They picked models with a tight turning radius, a compact size, good city fuel mileage, a decent ride quality, and at least average reliability.
What are the prices of a used Impreza?
Consumer Reports says the price range of the 2016 Impreza sedan and hatchback model is $14,000 to $18,175. They picked the Impreza for its fuel mileage, standard all-wheel-drive, noble handling, roomy interior, and comfortable ride. You can also check Subaru’s Certified Pre-Owned inventory in your area.
The seven best used cars and SUVs for city driving
In addition to the Subaru Impreza, Consumer Reports also picked the 2016 Toyota Prius, 2017 Toyota Corolla, 2015 Honda Civic, 2016 Mazda 3, 2017 Mazda CX-5, and 2015 Honda CR-V.

What is the price of a 2021 Subaru Impreza?
The 2021 Impreza comes in four trim levels for customers. The eight different models come in base sedan ($19,720), base hatchback ($20,220) Premium sedan ($23,120), Premium hatchback ($23,620), Sport sedan ($24,520), Sport hatchback ($23,920), Limited sedan ($26,820), and Limited hatchback ($27,320). Destination and delivery ($925) are included in the prices above.
Subaru is offering no-interest financing on 2021 Subaru Impreza models through June 1, 2021. Subaru of America also offers a 36-month lease on the 2021 Impreza sedan and hatchback for $199 per month. This for the base sedan trim with $1,999 due at lease signing and a $0 security deposit.
If you can’t afford a new 2021 Subaru Impreza, Consumer Reports says the 2016 Impreza is one of the best used models for city driving.
